Chloe's POV
A/N This one is jam-packed enjoy
I was sitting on our bed, thinking about everything that had happened. It turned out that we had been missing for 2 weeks, although it didn't feel that long. I was waiting for Red to finish her shower. I had already taken mine, and it felt great. It also felt nice to be in fresh PJs. When Red finally came out, I looked up to see her walking straight to her side of the room without even glancing at me. She started picking up all the pieces of paper that were strewn around. I walked over and started to help. I picked up a page with a drawing of me and Red sitting under a tree. It was beautiful. "Wow," I said in amazement. I could feel Red's gaze on me. I looked up to see tears in her eyes. "Red? What's wrong?" She didn't reply when I gave her the pile of drawings I had picked up. "Hey, uh, Red... did I do something?" I said, confused, as she started towards her desk.
She froze and whispered bitterly, "Why do you care what happens to Max?" My eyes widened "Red i-" she cut me off her voice cracking as she continued, "After what he did to us, what he did to you." she kept her back turned to me, desperate, I said, "Red, under all that hatred is grief. Max has had a hard childhood. He acts like that because he doesn't want to be alone." She rounded on me, revealing a tear-stained face. "Chloe," she said with a hit of anger, "we've all had a hard childhood, but we all know that when someone you rely on breaks your trust, you do things, sometimes horrible things but you don't have to you can choose to grow from your life or you can let it control you Max is letting it control him. Chloe... I'll understand if you still have feelings for Max," her voice cracking. I stared at her, my eyes wide. "Red, what makes you think I love him?" I asked, even more confused. "The way you looked when asking about him," she said in a small voice. I stared at Red, her eyes filled with a look that I could only define as 'jealousy?'
"Red, how can you think I love him after what Max did to me? Of course, I don't love him. Red, I love you and you know it. We're meant to be," I say, pleading with her to understand. She looks up at me and says in an unreadable tone, "That picture you saw... that's my favorite piece." "Why?" I ask calmly. "That's the first time I ever felt I had a place in this world. I felt free, I felt safe... I just don't want to lose you, Chlo. I don't know what I would do if I didn't have you," she says, tears streaming down her face. I walk up to her, giving her a strong embrace. "Red, that drawing is beautiful, but you know what's prettier?" I ask warmly. "What," I hear her mumble. "You," I say, kissing her forehead.
A/N alr are halfway through this chapter i hope you liked that I enjoyed writing something meaningful for once also i recently heard this song called 'Little Do You Know' The girl in it and what she says reminds me of Red and the male voices and what he says reminds me of Chloe (pretend the males voice is a female)
an hour later both Red and chloe's parents are here (Uma allowed the Qoh to come due to her daughter being missing) (will switch between pov's here)
Chapter 28 PT 2 Out Of My Life
Chloe's POV
I hear a knocking on the door. I look at Red, who gets up and opens the door. "Hello, sweetie, is Chloe here?" I hear my mother's voice. Though calm, I can sense the fear in it. Red nods and lets her in. My mother runs to me, giving me a giant bear hug. I didn't hear what she said because I was still watching Red. Before Red can close the door, another person comes in more forcefully. "Hey, Mother," Red says, annoyed. I immediately squirm out of my mother's loving grasp and stand defensively in front of Red, giving the Qoh a death stare. "Don't worry, pip-squeak. I'm just here to check up on my daughter after the whole ordeal," I glare at her. "Last time you came to check up on your kid, you left her with a horrible life lesson." She chuckles as though recalling a happy memory. "It's fine, Chloe... go say hello to your mother, I can handle this," Red says in a defeated voice. "Red, are you sure?" She nods. "Fine." I turn to the Qoh. "But I've got my eyes on you." I give her one more glare before heading to my concerned mother. "Do you think she'll be okay?" my mother asks. "She will be because I'll be here," I growl.
Red's POV
I could feel Chloe's gaze on me, I couldn't let her fight my battles. "Mother," I said bitterly as she glared at me. "What's the real reason you're here?" I asked, not in the mood for her lies. "Can't I just check on my daughter?" she replied innocently. "Ha! The only reason you'd ever do that is to see if anything good is happening in my life, and then you proceed to destroy everything that brings me happiness," I spat. "Oh, I'm just trying to protect you," she said slyly. "I won't be the one needing protection," I glared at her. "Haha," her laughter sent shivers down my spine. "You know very well, Red, that I will always be the one in control," she said annoyed. "I'M DONE, I'm done being your toy!," I spat. "And what do you plan on doing about it?" she asked, chuckling to herself.
I could sense the piercing gaze from both Chloe and her mother, their eyes fixated on me. As I clenched my fists, It took a lot of effort to remain level while speaking, "I want you to leave, and I don't want to see you again... You can come to graduation, but after that, I don't want you to be a part of my life." My mother stared at me, clearly taken aback by my words. In that moment, for the first time ever, I saw hurt pierce her gaze, swiftly transforming into a fiery rage. i tensed from the weight of her stare. "What did you just say to me?!" she growled, her face mere inches away from mine. I stumbled over my words, attempting to explain, but before I could apologize, Chloe stepped up beside me. "SHE SAID LEAVE, BITCH," she snapped, her voice dripping with disdain. The weight of her words left me stunned, and the anger etched on her face sent shivers down my spine. My mother glared at her before refocusing her attention on me. "I'll see you at graduation, and believe me, this will be a goodbye no one will forget," she declared, a murderous look in her eyes. Holding Chloe's hand tightly, our gazes locked. I braced myself as my mother stormed out. Giving one last glare, aimed at Chloe? Finally, a long-held sigh of relief escaped me, bringing a momentary calm.
Chloe's POV
I watch, still fuming, at the door. The Queen was out of sight, but I still didn't want to move. "T-thank you, Chloe," I hear Red's voice. I snap out of my trance, giving her a quick embrace before kissing her—a proper kiss, lips to lips. I could feel Red's body start to relax. "Chloe, I have a bad feeling about this," she murmurs after we break apart. "Whatever happens, I'm here with you every step of the way."
