Chapter 4: Frail Body 4
Song Qie glanced at the three members of the F3 group in front of him. All of them were undeniably handsome, their appearances complementing each other and his own. There was no question about their looks or height; these men were tall, the kind of height that made you look twice. Song Qie, standing at a modest 170 cm, looked somewhat out of place among this towering group, with the shortest among them at 188 cm.
Still, it was a sight to behold, especially with Lu Beihuai standing among them. The four of them together were a visual feast.
But Song Qie wasn’t feeling quite as pleased as he appeared.
The intensity of their stares was enough to make anyone nervous.
Cough, cough, cough…
Song Qie’s back stiffened under the weight of their puzzled looks. He tried to remain calm, but the tightness in his throat betrayed him, forcing a couple of coughs as he turned away.
“Master, why are you here at school? Didn’t I tell you to rest at home?” Lu Beihuai stood up and approached Song Qie. Noticing the flush in Song Qie’s cheeks from the coughing, he gently patted him on the back, his concern evident.
“If I hadn’t come, you’d have been bullied by them.” Song Qie took a deep breath and subtly shifted to shield Lu Beihuai behind him. He reminded himself that if he wanted to survive, he had to stick close to Lu Beihuai, the key to his redemption.
But before he could say more, one of the boys grabbed him unexpectedly, pulling him into a tight embrace. He yelped in surprise.
“Song Qie, what do you mean by bullying him? We’re just having fun with you,” the tall boy said, his hand pinching Song Qie’s cheek and lifting his face.
Startled, Song Qie found himself face to face with the boy, whose icy stare cut straight through him. His fear rose instinctively. This guy is dangerous, he thought, like he could crush me with one punch.
“Come on, Zhou Ming, he just recovered from an illness. Don’t mess with him like that,” another boy, Shen Tingsi, stepped in, pulling Song Qie to his side and lightly touching his face. “Song Qie, what are you thinking? We aren’t bullying Lu Beihuai. This whole thing was your idea.”
Song Qie dodged Shen Tingsi’s hand. “...If you’re not the ones bullying him, then who is?”
No sooner had the words left his mouth than he felt an arm drape over his shoulders, pulling him back into another broad chest. His eyes widened in shock.
“Why are you avoiding us?” a voice whispered behind him.
Song Qie stood there, helpless among the three towering figures. Wait, he thought, would good friends really hug each other like this? Guan Yu and Liu Bei never hugged each other like this!
He tried to make sense of the situation. Okay, let's figure this out. Zhou Ming is the one who pinched my face, Shen Tingsi is the one who stopped him, and Xie Jingchu is the one hugging me. These guys have a pretty solid bond.
His eyes flicked toward Lu Beihuai.
Lu Beihuai stood to the side, his schoolbag covered in mud and his pants stained from being forced to kneel earlier. Despite his tall and sturdy frame, he remained silent, his aura dark and brooding. He had clearly become accustomed to the oppressive behavior of these young masters, offering no resistance.
Song Qie realized that if he didn’t stand up now, he wouldn’t be able to help Lu Beihuai. The future that awaited them was grim, but Song Qie didn’t want to die. If he was to change his fate, he had to help Lu Beihuai rise above his circumstances.
