Chapter 11: Frail Body 11

The news of the quarrel among F4+1 spread like wildfire, quickly becoming the latest gossip among students during break time.

During physical education, the sports fields buzzed with students in their athletic gear, all eager to participate in the activities.

On the basketball court, two players engaged in an intense one-on-one match, drawing the attention of many onlookers.

After two rounds, both men were drenched in sweat, their shirts clinging to their bodies, hair damp and dripping with perspiration. In the midst of their confrontation, one held the ball while the other raised his arms in a defensive stance. Their eyes locked, and neither showed any intention of backing down.

“Song Qie has never argued with me before,” Zhou Ming spat out, his voice laced with disdain. “Now he’s quarreling with me because of you, Lu Beihuai. Don’t you think that’s pathetic?”

Lu Beihuai clutched the ball tightly, catching the disgust radiating from Zhou Ming's eyes. He could feel the weight of the other students’ stares from outside the court, but instead of succumbing to his usual self-doubt, he chuckled lightly.

“I’m so sorry,” he replied, his tone nonchalant.

Zhou Ming's irritation flared instantly. This casual dismissal only fueled his anger.

The tension between them escalated, igniting the already charged atmosphere.

“I heard F3 and Lu Beihuai had a fight because of Song Qie,” one student whispered, his eyes wide with intrigue.

“What happened?” another asked, leaning in closer.

“You haven’t heard? It’s all over the group chat! Apparently, Song Qie told them they need to apologize to Lu Beihuai and stop bullying him. It’s like he’s fallen for Lu Beihuai or something.”

“Wait, what? I thought Zhou Ming had a crush on Song Qie!”

The gossip spread among the students, each iteration adding to the drama of the situation.

“All F3 like Song Qie, you know? Plus, they’ve been childhood friends, so you could say Lu Beihuai is like a gift from heaven,” one student exclaimed.

“But what about Lu Beihuai? Sure, his background isn’t great, but he has this noble air about him. What does he think if Song Qie likes him?” another chimed in.

“Honestly, if I were in Lu Beihuai’s shoes, I’d find it strange, especially since Song Qie has always bullied him,” the first replied.

“So what’s the deal with this one-on-one match?” a third student asked, puzzled.

“Uh... Xiong Jing?”

“You mentioned that Lu Beihuai didn’t like Song Qie,” Xiong Jing pressed.

“Well, Lu Beihuai’s dad is the driver for the Song family. He has to be nice to Song Qie to help his dad get a better salary. It’s all an act,” was the response.

After Zhou Ming had finished his altercation with Lu Beihuai, Shen Tingsi stepped in, ready to take his turn. It was clear that the three of them were ganging up on Lu Beihuai in this one-on-one match.

In a corner, Song Qie stood under a sun hat, sipping water. He’d wanted to join the game, but his frail body couldn’t handle the exertion, and he preferred to avoid F3 for now, still reeling from the recent social fallout.

He overheard snippets of explosive gossip—was it true that all F3 had feelings for Song Qie?

Despite his encounters with many LGBTQ+ individuals while studying abroad, Song Qie identified as straight. This situation felt entirely out of his realm of understanding.
