Chapter 22: Frail Body

"Skirt?"

"What skirt?"

"What did you buy a skirt for?"

Upon hearing this, Song Qie's panic was evident, and his ears turned red. "W-Where is the skirt?"

Lu Beihuai froze, his thoughts coming to an abrupt halt. He looked up and found the three guys he disliked the most standing behind Song Qie. The moment their eyes met, his expression darkened instantly.

You said you would come and put on a little skirt for him, so why are you bringing these people with you?

Xie Jingchu frowned as he noticed Lu Beihuai’s bare upper body, covered in wounds. Had he been beaten?

Then he sighed, realizing that Lu Beihuai actually had muscles. But why had he taken off his shirt? Was he doing it on purpose for Song Qie to see?

Xie Jingchu slammed the basketball in his hand onto the floor, patted it twice, then pushed it with his palm, sending the signed basketball rolling to Lu Beihuai's feet.

"Lu Beihuai, this is an apology from me." Meeting Lu Beihuai's gaze, Xie Jingchu faced the invisible sense of oppression with a slight raise of his eyebrows, smiling brightly. "I'm sorry for what happened before."

Zhou Ming and Shen Tingsi also raised the paper bags in their hands and placed them on the cabinet beside them, following Xie Jingchu's lead with their apologies.

But it really doesn’t hurt.

Song Qie frowned and glanced at the three of them. “Apologize sincerely.”

Xie Jingchu tutted. “How am I not serious?”

Song Qie noticed that Lu Beihuai's expression was growing darker. Feeling a tightening in his chest, he quickly turned to Zhou Ming beside him. “Zhou Ming, can you take the lead again?”

Zhou Ming nodded nonchalantly. “Okay.” He glanced at Xie Jingchu and Shen Tingsi, motioned with his chin, then looked at Lu Beihuai. “I’m sorry.”

The other two followed suit.

Song Qie: “…”

It would have been better if they hadn’t said anything. Now it felt like a fight could break out at any second.

He glanced at Lu Beihuai. The man’s face was completely black, which only made Song Qie more anxious.

Still, he tried to remain calm, determined not to let the atmosphere turn tense. After all, his intention was to help Lu Beihuai let go of the matter. Even if that wasn't possible, he needed to ease the situation. At the very least, their attitude had to be sincere.

Compared to Lu Beihuai, these three guys had better tempers.

“Um… have you taken your medicine?” Song Qie quickly changed the subject to lighten the mood.

Lu Beihuai picked up the black T-shirt from the sofa and put it on expressionlessly. After adjusting the hem, he looked at Song Qie. “How can I eat if you don’t feed me?”

“Lu Beihuai!” Xie Jingchu couldn’t contain himself and shouted, “Who do you think you are, commanding him?”

Zhou Ming and Shen Tingsi beside him exchanged surprised glances, clearly not expecting Lu Beihuai to speak like this.

Ignoring them, Lu Beihuai picked up a glass from the coffee table and took a drink of water.

Song Qie quickly grabbed Xie Jingchu’s raised arm, signaling him to calm down. “It’s okay, it’s okay. It’s what I should do.”
