Chapter 26

My eyes widened as I saw Johannes Key. The combination of Jonah and Fillip is clearly visible in his appearance. 

After all this time that felt years I found him. I finally found him.. 

"Welcome little brother, it has been a while", he says as gets up. He had ears on his head, a tail elegantly behind him. The full werewolf of his brothers, the king of this land. The man who will save me from this. 

His eyes dart to me. "And you must be the human", he says and turns to me. He takes my hand and places a gently kiss on my knuckles before letting go. "It's a pleasure to meet you." "Likewise", I replied. 

"We don't have too much time, Johannes", says Jonah, interrupting the introduction between us. "We don't know how far the humans are behind us." 

Johannes chuckles softly. "Of course. I'll set my guards and.." He looks at me again and then my leg. "Let's get you healed up first. I doubt you get far otherwise. Adam!" An older wolf walks in. "Take care of her wound." He simply nodded and signed me to sit in the center of cushions where I need to expose my hurting leg. It was so ugly to look at. All that blood. It looks as bad as it hurts. The wolf starts taking care of my injured leg while Johannes and Jonah continue talking to eachother in another room. 

"She's not going home, is she?", Jonah asks and turns to his brother. "If Fillip send her to me, she needs to be protected. You know very well I don't have power in the human cities", Johannes replies. "You know very well she won't be staying here with us. She has a life outside the wolf world. Outside our world." Jonah felt a bit frustrated, but stayed cold. Straight face. Somehting he needed to learn because of his brother. "Exactly", Johannes replies. "That's why she will have a life here, with me." Jonah eyes widen slightly. Johannes chuckles seeing the reaction of his brother. "Oh come on. Since when did you ever care about other humans?" He paused for a moment. "Unless she's different." Jonah simply scoffs and turns his head. Seeing you through a window where the other wolf took care of your injured leg. Something about you made his heart a bit warmer. Like he could let his guard down. But his look hardened before looking back at his brother. "She knows of our world, and that's enough for the werewolf hunters to kill her. She is a war she isn't suppose to be part of. Here is the only place she's safe." Johannes put a hand on Jonah shoulder but he quickly brushed it off before turning to leave. 

As the wolf stopped working on my wounds, I look back at my leg. Wrapped in a bandage. The pain lessened. I don't know what he gave me but I don't need to limp as hard as before. I hear familar voices and started listening.

"Sometimes the world is hard, Jonah. I promise I give her a choice to go home after I win this war." With that Johannes leaves and I see Jonah from afar. Tenser then before, frustration build in his body languange. "Are you okay?", I ask, feeling a bit worried. Jonah looks at me before leaving without a word and closes the door behind him.

A bit of hurt and insicurity went through me. Why did he leave just like that? I didn't do something wrong, did I? I looked down and sighed for a moment. I better go and find Johannes...

I find Johannes looking down to the camps in the forest. I limp over to him, and when I stand next to him i grabbed something to hold on to. He looks at me and his thin lips went up in a soft but warm smile. "I was planning to ask you something", he said. I stayed silent a bit. 

What would he like to ask me?

"I want to ask something too. When Fillip died, his last words were to find you. Can you help me out of this?", I asked. Johannes let out a soft sigh. "I can't. The only way for you to get out of this is that you would magically forget about of all of this. But I doubt that just happens. But I can protect you.. if you accept something of me." I watched as he suddenly sat down one knee. And I felt my heart race. Not of happyness but panic. What is he doing? Please don't be what I think it is...

"(name) (last name), will you marry? For the sake of your safety?"

Under the cloak of the night, the hunters slip through the dense forest. Their movement silents as shadows as they noticed the food prints of the vicious creatures they followed. As they reached the end of the tree line they looked down from the hill. There it was.. there was the core of the kingdom they wanted to lie down in fire. Their breath mingled with the cold air as the first one signed to follow. The hunt was about to begin...
