Episode 3: hold your breath

Back in the Amazing Digital Circus, the group was gathered around a set of couches and chairs. They all watched as Pomni tried to suffocate herself.

Pomni fails and starts gasping for air.

"I can't hold it any longer." She looks back at Jax, clutching her kneecaps and breathing heavily.
"Sure you can. We can't die from oxygen deprivation, remember?" Jax slyly points out.

"-But it still feels like I'm gonna die." She reasons. "Try not thinking about it." Kinger tries giving her some advice before Jax cuts in. "-Or you could just toughen up!"

"I wanna see what your funny cartoon body does." Jax grabs Pomni's arm, stretching it like a rubber band. Y/n aggressively slaps the top of his hand, forcing him to let go of her arm.
"Ow- Y/n, what-" He turns back and glares at them. Y/n glares back.

Something clicks in Jax head for a moment.
"Whaaaat? Are you jealous, Hotstuff?" Jax snickers, pulling them in close by the waist. Y/n flushes and wriggles against his hold.
"No-!"

"Hey, break it up." Ragatha cuts in before they accidentally become a witness to something they shouldn't be witnessing. Jax snaps his head back at her with a harsh glare. "Ooh, break it up. You wish." He mocks, wrapping his arms around Y/n's shoulders in an unwavering grip.
"You're. Crushing. Me." You wheeze.

Pomni shakes her head, ignoring the side conversation. "Alright, here I go." She takes a deep inhale of breath as everyone stares waiting for some kind of reaction.

"All right, we've entered the blue zone." Zooble acknowledged as Pomni's face did indeed turn blue.

Jax tabbed his foot impatiently on the ground. Pomni's face then turned pink.
"Hey, there's something new." Jax observed.

"Okay, we're getting red."

"-Ooh, orange."

"Yellow."

"-Green."

Kinger leaned in close to inspect her face. "Whoa, look! Now she's turning blue!"
Y/n leaned in a bit as well.
"🤓☝️Um, actually that's more a capri blue."

"...does it matter?"

Not being able to hold it any longer, Pomni gasped for air and the original color of her face flooded back over her.

"Huh. Guess the hue shift just gets faster." Ragatha concluded. Pomni glanced up at her with a pained expression. "-why am I the one doing this? Why not one of you guys?" Pomni complained, seemingly frustrated with their antics.

"Because something different happens with each person! For instance-" Jax slides over to explain. "Kinger starts glowing...Ragatha's hair noodles stick up...Gangle's mask starts spinning...Zooble turns straight...And Y/n's head explodes!"

Pomni slowly looks at you with concern and you sigh. "Yeah..b-but like It grows back-?Nevermind, I don't want to talk about it." You shivered.

Pomni clears her throat and turns back towards Jax. "-What about you?" She asks curiously.

Y/n rolls their eyes. "You'd have better luck trying to find the lost city of Atlantis."
Zooble scoffs at that. "Yeah. He refuses to show us, because he's a coward. Y/n being an exception."

Jax shrugs. "I wanna keep the mystery alive. The only reason Y/n knows is because-" Jax suddenly stopped talking due to a sharp glare from his lover. "-is because I'm a good boyfriend and I share everything with my significant other." He talked like he was some computer program. He then broke the 4th wall. "Learn from me, VIEWERS. But don't try to be me cause there's only one me and I'm the best me-"

"WHO are you talking to?" You said, sounding a little stressed out. He did this a lot.

Caine suddenly swooped in, disrupting the whole conversation.

"-Why is everyone just standing around when there's an ADVENTURE to be had!"

"Today's adventure is...THE MYSTERY OF MILDENHALL MANOR. That's right! This big, spooky mansion has been rumored to be filled to the brim with paranormal activity!"

Y/n's eyes widen. "Wait, what-"

"It's up to you to solve the house's deep mysteries and capture all the ghoulish ghost activity you can."

"And for the first time ever, you can..." Caine suddenly stops with his mouth? Face? Completely closed. Slowly, his eyes magically slid through his teeth and he glances around. "Where's Zooble? I-I made this adventure really cool and m-m-matoor just for them."

The others all looked around for Zooble but they were nowhere in sight.

Caine stared dumbfounded, lowly growling. Bubble then started to mutter complete nonsense backwards.

"What?"

"-The NPC's aren't gonna become self-aware in this one, right?" Pomni hesitantly asked.

"-How should I know? I'm not the boss. Oh, wait-- yes, I am! HAHAHAHAHA! Anyway, everybody into the fractal noise. It's adventuring time!" Caine declared completely ignoring her question.
