"You're really hot, you know that?" You sigh, laying on Jax's chest, staring up at him as if he were something real special.

He looked down at you, unbothered by your blunt comment. "So I've been told..."

You sit up a bit, resting on your elbows. "By just me right? Do I need to be jealous?"

Jax scoffs, chuckling at your ridiculous question. He decided to play along anyway. "Hm...I believe I have my fans, but...You're the only one getting this...-" He tilts your chin up. "-...Exclusive attention." He winks at you.

Blush creeps up your neck all the way up to your face. You felt like you might go into overdrive and crash out any moment.

His grin widens, seeing the blush on your cheeks. "Don't tell me you're getting shy now? What happened to that confidence you had a minute ago?" Jax teases, gently tracing a finger along your flushed skin.
"You okay there, Red?"

You grumble, cowering from your embarrassment. You decide to take refuge in the crook of his neck. "Peachy..." your voice comes out muffled against his neck. You were trying to sound annoyed but it came out more breathless than anything else.

"That so?"

With a mischievous glint in his eye, Jax starts to tickling your sides, trying to coax out a laugh despite your attempts to stay serious.

"Ah! St-Stop that!" You squirm under Jax's touch, unable to hold back a giggle as he finds your sensitive spots. You try to swat his hands away playfully, still blushing profusely.
"Jaxxxx...."

"Jax...."

"Jax."

"Jax!"

"JAX!"

.

.

.

"JAX!!"

Jax shoots out of bed in a cold sweat. His heart was pounding rapidly. It felt like he didn't have control of his own breathing. What's going on? Where's Y/n..? Something's wrong.

Jax snapped his gaze up to Ragatha, who stood in his doorway. She looked like she wanted to come in but was hesitant too. Why is she here?

Where is y/n?

"Ragatha..." His voice was strained beyond belief; you could barely make out what he was saying. "Why are you—"

"You were doing it again."

What?

"...Doing what?" He slowly asked. For some reason the hairs on his arm and the back of his neck started to stand as if something bad was going to happen.

Ragatha looked down at her hands. He could see the pain sketched out of her face which just made him even more confused. He gritted his teeth trying his best not to loose his temper with her.

"You forgot again, didn't you...?" She slowly looked up to meet his eyes.

Jax furrowed his brows, looking at Ragatha with confusion. "Forgot what? What are you talking about?"

"Just spit it out already."

Ragatha crossed her arms, exasperated. "In your sleep, Jax. You scream for Y/n. Every night."

She shook her head, her voice tinged with sadness. "But you never remember."

Jax's heart dropped at the mention of Y/n.
Y/n?
How could he forget?
The accident...
Abstracted...
No.

Jax just stared at Ragatha, feeling a cold dread seep into his bones. The words echoed in the back of his mind, refusing to be silent. "Y/n...?" A wave of grief washed over him,  threatening to drown him whole. He sank back against his bed frame, clutching at the sheets as if they could anchor him to reality.

Ragatha took a step forward in his room, feeling a surge to comfort him. "Jax-"

"Get out."

"..what?"

Jax eyes flashed with anger, his voice cracking. "Get out! Just get out!"

He couldn't bear to hear Ragatha's sympathetic tone, the reminder of what he'd lost etched in every word.

"I don't need your pity. I don't need your comfort. I don't need your anything! I just need—"

He bit his lip to stop himself from spilling the threatening tears. The pain was too raw, too overwhelming. He needed solitude, needed to wallow in his anguish without an audience. Without being reminded of the void left behind.

Ragatha stood silently for a few seconds before nodding an closing the door.

Jax didn't understand how Kinger did it. How could he just...move on? Impossible.

Jax collapsed onto his bed, burying his face in the pillow to muffle the sobs that wracked his body. His mind replayed their last moments before the abstraction. The laughter, the arguments, the tender touches, even Y/n outrageous comments. ——All bittersweet reminders of what he didn't have anymore.  He clutched at the empty space beside him, wishing desperately so for your warmth, your presence, anything to ease the pain in his chest.

Jax was at the end of his rope. He rolled over on his side and brought his hand close to his face.

It was glitching.
