(I hope y'all don't mind me skipping the little therapy session with Zooble. I just didn't see a point in writing it since it doesn't involve Jax nor Y/n. 🙏)
~
Finally after falling for what felt like forever, the three reach the bottom. They land harshly on the hardwood ground into a dark room.
Pomni groans, lifting herself up a bit. Oddly enough the fall didn't hurt as much as she thought it would. She then looks down to see you lying on the ground under her. She must've landed on top of you.
"O-Oh! I'm sorry!" With that quick note she hurriedly helps you off the ground."Wha...where are we?" You mumble out, squinting your eyes to see if you could make out anything in the pitch black room.
Lightening flashes outside the window loudly, causing all three of them to jump. The fireplace behind you sparks to life, illuminating the dark room.
On the wall mounted heads of all the characters hung but only they were distorted versions of themselves.Pomni stared at the one that resembled herself. "Oh, that's....Noooo..."
You gagged at the creepy version of Jax's head mounted on the wall. "Alright, I know I'm being pranked now. Where are the cameras at?" Your voice cracked.
In the middle of the room, right above the fire place, was the only head that didn't resemble any of the characters. Its face was a grayish pale and had unleveled big eyes with complimentary shadows underneath. Its mouth hung wide open, giving the room an extra eerie feeling.
Kinger walked closer curiously. Pomni wasn't far behind. You stared at them as if they were crazy.
"Oh [boing!] no." You refused to take part in this cliche horror trope. You turned the other cheek hoping to remove it from your sight. You're efforts went down the drain as your eyes made a beeline to the mounted Jax head.
You yelped and quickly rushed to Pomni's side.
"I wonder what this thing is?" Kinger whispered.
Just then a tape recorder out of nowhere started to play. "My name is Baron Theodore Mildenhall. Hunting has been a hobby of mine for as long as I can remember-Although one could say it eventually became more of an obsession. The creature you see before you is one I've been pursuing for years-"
"Why?" Y/n said, cringing. Kinger shushed you.
"-Not quite a man...but not quite an animal. Something...unholy. Something evil. I took it upon myself to spend every waking moment doing all I could to protect my family from the creature. Hoping that when I'd eventually killed it I would be freed from this awful feeling. This inescapable dread. I was wrong."
The tape ended there with silence to follow after.
"You know, I'm starting to think..." Kinger trailed off without saying anything more. Y/n whined dramatically and shoved their face in their hands. "We're so cooked."
Pomni let out a nervous laugh and placed a hand on your shoulder. "Hey...How about we try to find a way back up to the others?"
You let your hands fall from your face and gave her a grateful smile. "You don't have to ask me twice."The three of you walked around the room searching for possible escape routes. Pomni walked up to a door and swung it up just to revel a bricked up wall.
Pomni's eye twitched. "Okay, cool. That's great. I LOVE these adventures."
You sighed. "I miss my man."
"..."
Kinger walked off to one of those little elevators that some rich people have in their homes because they're lazy. "We could always ride this thingie up." Pomni jumped onto the fence of the elevator, trying to pry the doors open. It was no use.
"It's locked. It's locked- of course! It's locked! I LOVE that it's locked!"
"Cooked."
.
.
.
Slowly, you all open another door to the room only this time it actually opens. They started looking through all the drawers for anything that might be useful. Kinger found another tape recorder on top of a desk and pressed the play button.
"Tuesday, December 4th. Although I had shot the creature multiple times in its vitals and severed its head to keep as a prize on my wall...my troubles were just beginning. I took my eyes off the body what felt like only a minute, and when I looked back, the body was gone. The creature was not dead, and it would be back to reclaim what I'd taken from it. If anyone is listening to this, all I ask of you is one thing--do not let the head out of your sight. You have been warned."
The recording ends there. Y/n and Kinger look back to where the head was once mounted only it wasn't there.
"Well, this is some rather inconvenient lore placement."
"I don't want to play anymore." You cry.
"I got it!" Pomni says, jumping up from the bottom of the desk and holding a key in her hand.
The lights suddenly go out and it's pitch black
"And this is some rather inconvenient darkness." Kinger includes.
"AHHH!!! What was that?! Was that you?!" Pomni screams as if something had touched her.
"Nuh-uh!" You quickly answer her.
"No...Oh, wait--you mean me grabbing your hand right now? Yeah, that was me. I-Is this your hand?" Kinger reaches out and pokes Pomni.
"Ugh! That's my eye." She says irritably.
"Yes, but WHICH eye?" Kinger rolls his eyes like it's an obvious question.
"I don't think that really matters-" she started to say before you poked her in the eye this time.
"Would y'all stop touching my eye?!" She shouted at the two of you.
"Sorry." You and Kinger say in sync.
After a few more moments of silence Kinger suddenly shrieks.
"What?! What is it?!" You squeal glancing around frantically even though it proved to be useless.
"I just remembered a really funny joke."
"A joke? Now? Really?" You ask incredulously, still trying to calm your racing heart. "...what kind of joke?"
"Never mind that- why did you scream?" Pomni asked Kinger, trying to get her heart to calm down as well.
Kinger thought about it for a second. "Maybe it wasn't actually that funny."
You let out a dry chuckle. "Thanks..that really clears things up."
