Chapter 29

Time Skip: Mid-2024 – Six Months into Marriage

It had been six months since Y/N and Dua had tied the knot in a beautiful, intimate ceremony that still brought smiles to their faces every time they thought about it. Surrounded by family, close friends, and the warm sun of the Mediterranean, their wedding had been a true reflection of the love they shared. The past six months had flown by in a whirlwind of love, adventure, and navigating the complexities of married life.

Though their lives were hectic, with Y/N stationed in Barcelona playing for FC Barcelona and Dua balancing her time between London and Barcelona for her music career and budding acting projects, they had found a rhythm. Every time they were together, it felt like a celebration—a merging of two busy lives, filled with laughter, late-night takeout, and Oscar Blue, their loyal dog, who had become a comforting constant amidst the chaos.

They had mastered the art of living in two cities, becoming experts at long-distance travel. One week, they’d be walking through the streets of Barcelona, visiting little cafés by the sea, savoring local delicacies, and indulging in the vibrant culture. The next, they’d be in London, attending events or spending quality time with friends and family. Each place felt like home because they shared it together, and no matter where they were, they had one thing that mattered most—each other.

It wasn’t always easy. There were moments of exhaustion—weeks spent apart due to demanding schedules, the longing to be together growing more intense with every passing day. Yet, even in those moments, they knew that their love was strong enough to weather any storm. They had learned to appreciate the small moments: sharing a quiet evening at home, exchanging fleeting glances between meetings, and planning trips to see each other at every opportunity.

One evening, they were lounging on the couch in their Barcelona apartment. The soft light of the TV flickered across the room as a movie played in the background, but neither of them was really paying attention to the screen. Oscar was curled up at their feet, snoring softly, his paws twitching in his sleep as he dreamt of chasing after imaginary squirrels. Y/N had one arm draped around Dua’s shoulders, gently stroking her hair, while Dua rested her head against Y/N’s chest, her fingers lazily tracing patterns on Y/N’s arm.

Everything felt perfect. Peaceful. The world outside their cozy home seemed far away as they held onto each other, savoring the tranquility of the moment. But there was something on Dua’s mind—a thought she couldn’t shake off for the past few weeks. It had been growing quietly in the back of her mind, and tonight, she knew it was time to share it with Y/N. She shifted slightly, lifting her head to look at her wife, her face thoughtful, almost hesitant.

"I’ve been thinking," Dua began, her voice quiet but serious, a soft weight to the words she was about to say.

Y/N glanced down at her, raising an eyebrow playfully. "Uh-oh, that’s dangerous."

Dua smiled, but there was a hint of nervousness in her eyes. She lightly swatted Y/N’s chest. "I’m serious!"

Y/N chuckled, sitting up a little straighter to give Dua her full attention. "Okay, okay. What’s on your mind, love?"

Dua hesitated, her fingers fidgeting with the edge of the blanket draped over them. "I’ve been thinking about… kids," she said, her voice softer now.

Y/N’s playful expression instantly softened, her eyes widening in surprise. The topic had come up before, in passing, when they talked about their future. But hearing Dua bring it up now, so seriously, after only six months of marriage, felt like something much more significant. It was no longer a distant possibility but something real. Something that was already beginning to take shape in their hearts.

Dua continued, glancing down at her hands as she nervously toyed with the fabric. "I know we’ve mentioned it before, but I’ve been thinking about it a lot lately. And I feel like… I don’t know, I feel like I’m ready to start the process. I’m not saying right this second, but soon. What do you think?"

Y/N’s heart skipped a beat. For the past few months, the idea of starting a family had quietly lingered in her mind, too. But she hadn’t brought it up, not wanting to rush Dua or make her feel pressured. They both had demanding careers, and starting a family was a huge step. But hearing Dua express the same desire—it felt like a dream finally taking root.

Before Dua could say anything else, Y/N sat up quickly, her face lighting up with excitement, her eyes sparkling. "Yes. Yes, yes, yes!"

Dua blinked, taken aback by the immediate and enthusiastic response. "Wait, what? Really?"

"Really? Of course, really!" Y/N practically bounced up from the couch, pacing in front of Dua with excitement. "I’ve been thinking about it, too! I didn’t want to bring it up because I didn’t want to pressure you, but I’ve been dreaming about it. I can totally see us with kids. I’m so ready, Dua. More than ready."

Dua’s eyes filled with tears, her heart overwhelmed by Y/N’s words. She hadn’t expected such a quick and wholehearted reaction, and hearing Y/N’s enthusiasm made her heart soar. She had been so nervous, unsure of how to bring it up, afraid of overwhelming Y/N or feeling like she was rushing things. But Y/N’s response felt like a weight being lifted off her shoulders.

"You’re really ready?" Dua whispered, her voice thick with emotion.

Y/N stopped pacing, returning to sit beside her, her hand gently cupping Dua’s face. Her gaze softened, and her voice was steady, full of love. "I’ve never been more ready for anything in my life. We’ve built this amazing life together, and I want to share it with our future kids. I want to see you as a mom. I want us to raise a family together. I can’t wait."

Tears welled up in Dua’s eyes, and she blinked rapidly, trying to hold them back. "I was so nervous to bring it up because I didn’t want you to feel rushed. But hearing you say this… it’s everything I hoped for."

Y/N smiled, brushing away a stray tear from Dua’s cheek. "You’re not rushing me at all. This feels right. So, what’s the next step? How do we make this happen?"

Dua let out a small laugh, the sound of it soothing to Y/N’s ears. "I guess we start looking into options. We’ll have to talk to doctors, figure out what’s best for us… but we’ll do it together."

Y/N smiled brightly, pulling Dua into her arms and holding her close. "Together. Always."

Oscar Blue, sensing the shift in the energy around them, stirred from his spot at their feet. He stretched lazily before hopping onto the couch, making himself comfortable between them. Y/N and Dua both laughed, their hands instinctively reaching out to pet him. He rolled onto his back, exposing his belly in a familiar sign of trust, as if to say, I’m ready to be part of this new chapter, too.

Y/N glanced down at Oscar, scratching behind his ears. "Looks like someone’s ready to be a big brother, huh?"

Dua giggled, hugging Y/N a little tighter, her heart feeling full. "It’s going to be an adventure, but I wouldn’t want to do it with anyone else."

And in that moment, as they sat on the couch, their dog nestled between them, the future felt full of endless possibilities. The weight of the world seemed to fade into the background as they looked ahead with excitement, knowing that whatever came next, they would face it together. They had built a life full of love, laughter, and unwavering support. Now, they were ready to build something even more beautiful—a family.

They leaned in to kiss, their lips meeting in a soft, tender moment that spoke volumes of their commitment to each other. It was a kiss that sealed the promise of their future, a promise that they would continue to grow, learn, and love—together. And in their hearts, they both knew that this was only the beginning of a new and exciting chapter in their lives.
