Bonus Chapter: Lizze and River - The Funniest Moments
Life had taken a surprising turn for Elizabeth when she found herself spending more time with Y/N's son, River. At two years old, River was full of energy, curiosity, and, as Elizabeth quickly discovered, a knack for unintentional hilarity. These moments, shared between them, became a cherished part of her life as her relationship with Y/N grew stronger.
The Superhero Breakfast Incident
It was a Saturday morning, and Elizabeth had come over to spend the day with Y/N and River. While Y/N was busy making breakfast in the kitchen, Elizabeth found herself seated at the dining table, trying to engage in a serious conversation with River, who had decided he was Captain Cereal today.
River, dressed in his superhero cape and pajamas, sat in his high chair, eyes wide with excitement. He had a spoonful of cereal and milk in his tiny hand, determined to save the day.
"Captain Cereal to the rescue!" he announced, flinging the spoon toward Elizabeth, sending a splash of milk and cereal directly onto her shirt.
Elizabeth blinked, momentarily stunned. Y/N rushed in, trying not to laugh, a dishtowel in hand. "River!" she chided gently, while Elizabeth just wiped the cereal off her face with a chuckle.
River, completely oblivious to his heroic mess, grinned at her. "You saved!"
Elizabeth couldn't help but smile at him, her heart warming despite the milk dripping down her sleeve. "I guess I've been rescued, huh?" she said, laughing along with Y/N.
The "Hide-and-Seek" Disaster
One afternoon, Elizabeth agreed to play hide-and-seek with River, who had recently discovered the joys of disappearing and reappearing dramatically. As Y/N watched from the couch, amused, River counted loudly, face buried in his hands.
"One, two, ten!" River yelled, skipping several numbers in his excitement. "Ready or not, here I come!"
Elizabeth, attempting to humor him, hid behind the curtain in the living room. But the thing about River was that he always knew where she hid-it was part of his charm, running around pretending not to see her until the very last second.
However, this time, River decided to mix things up. Instead of looking for her, he shouted, "Lizzie, I'm hiding now!" and ran directly into the laundry basket, somehow tipping it over and trapping himself inside.
Y/N and Elizabeth both burst out laughing as River peeked his head out of the basket, confused but giggling. "Mama, I stuck!"
Elizabeth knelt beside him, lifting the basket off gently. "Looks like you're not so great at hiding, little guy," she teased, planting a kiss on his forehead.
River puffed out his chest proudly. "I good hider!"
Elizabeth grinned at Y/N. "He's definitely your son."
The Puppy Mix-Up
During one of her weekend visits, Elizabeth brought a stuffed puppy for River. It was soft and floppy, with big eyes that River adored immediately. He carried it everywhere, declaring that its name was "Woof."
One day, Elizabeth and River were playing in the yard, tossing "Woof" back and forth. River decided it was time for his new puppy to "do tricks," so he laid it down on the grass and began giving commands.
"Sit, Woof!" River ordered, his tiny voice full of authority. The plush dog, of course, didn't move.
Elizabeth, sitting beside him, tried to keep a straight face as she played along. "I think he's sitting, River."
River frowned. "Woof, bad dog! No sit!" He picked up the toy, clearly upset, and handed it to Elizabeth. "You fix him."
Elizabeth, trying her best not to laugh, nodded seriously. "Alright, let's see if I can teach him." She made a grand gesture of sitting the plush toy upright.
River's eyes lit up, and he clapped his hands. "Good doggie!"
Y/N watched from the porch, shaking her head with a smile. "You're spoiling him, Lizze."
Elizabeth shrugged with a grin. "What can I say? He's got high standards."
The Sleepy Superhero Saga
One evening, after a long day of playing and running around, River was getting ready for bed. Y/N and Elizabeth had tucked him in, and he was fighting sleep as hard as he could, insisting he wasn't tired. In fact, he declared himself to be "Super River," capable of staying awake all night.
Elizabeth sat at the edge of his bed, trying to convince him otherwise. "Even superheroes need sleep, buddy. How else are you going to save the world tomorrow?"
River shook his head, his eyelids drooping as he spoke. "No sleep... Super River..." His words were beginning to slur as he slowly lost the battle.
Elizabeth leaned down, smiling as she whispered, "Even Super River needs a nap before he can save anyone."
River blinked slowly, clearly trying to stay awake but failing miserably. "No nap..." he mumbled, but within seconds, he was fast asleep, his tiny superhero cape tangled around him.
Elizabeth and Y/N exchanged amused looks as they quietly left his room. "I think Super River will be out of commission for a while," Elizabeth whispered, and Y/N stifled a laugh.
"He'll be back saving the world by morning," Y/N replied, taking Elizabeth's hand as they headed downstairs.
The Dance-Off
One rainy afternoon, River decided that it was dance time. Y/N had put on some music to keep him entertained while they were stuck indoors. To Elizabeth's surprise, River took her hand and demanded, "Dance, Lizze!"
Elizabeth, always willing to make River happy, stood up and did her best to keep up with his wild, toddler-style moves. He twirled, hopped, and flailed his arms with pure joy, while Elizabeth tried to mirror his moves without toppling over.
"You're quite the dancer, River!" Elizabeth said, breathless from trying to keep up with him.
River stopped mid-twirl, looking very serious. "Lizze, you need more... more spin!" he declared, taking her hands and spinning her around until they both collapsed in a fit of giggles on the floor.
Y/N, watching from the couch, couldn't stop laughing. "I think you've met your match, Lizze."
Elizabeth, still lying on the floor, out of breath but smiling, looked at Y/N with a playful glint in her eyes. "If this kid wants to dance, I'm always up for the challenge."
River, of course, declared himself the winner of the dance-off, much to Elizabeth's amusement.
---
As Elizabeth grew closer to Y/N and River, these little moments with the two-year-old became some of her most treasured memories. Each day with him brought new surprises, funny mishaps, and the pure joy of watching him grow. And while their relationship had its serious moments, it was the laughter, the playful chaos, and the unconditional love of this little family that made Elizabeth realize how much she belonged in their lives.
