August seventeenth had rolled around, and Jack was finally getting a week off from filming after a grueling few weeks of intense training.

His body ached, and the exhaustion hung over him like a heavy cloud. The break couldn't have come at a better time, but even with the downtime, his mind was far from peaceful. He had been trying—and failing—for weeks to push thoughts of Juniper out of his head.

Ever since her beach photos with Vinnie Hacker had surfaced online last week, Jack had avoided social media entirely. He couldn't handle seeing them together. Even though there was nothing official about Juniper and Vinnie, the sight of them hanging out, laughing, and enjoying each other's company made his stomach turn.

Jack had once liked Vinnie, thought he was a good guy when Juniper spoke highly of him after they worked on her music video together during Christmas.

But now? Now, Vinnie represented everything Jack no longer had—Juniper.

In his mind, Vinnie was stepping into a role that Jack once filled, being the person who was there for her when she needed someone the most. The thought twisted Jack's insides. He couldn't escape it, no matter how hard he tried.

It was starting to frustrate him—no, more than that—it was starting to drive him insane. He couldn't let it go. Jack found himself glaring at the blank wall in his trailer, his hands clenched into fists, the muscle in his jaw tightening. He needed a distraction. Anything to stop thinking about her, about them.

Deciding to pay a visit to his friend Jamie, Jack grabbed his jacket and stepped out into the warm New Zealand air. Jamie's trailer was a short walk from his, and as Jack approached, he noticed that something was off. Bailey, another one of his castmates, and Jamie were packing up a small carry-on suitcase. Jack furrowed his brow, feeling a sense of confusion creep in.

"Hey, what's going on? You two going somewhere?" Jack asked, leaning against the trailer's doorway as Jamie folded some clothes into his bag.

Bailey looked up from where she was neatly arranging her toiletries into a side pouch and smiled. "Yeah, we're heading to London tomorrow. We've got a week off, and I scored tickets to the closing night of the Eras Tour in London."

Jack blinked, taken aback. London? They were flying to London? He hadn't even considered leaving New Zealand during the break, but here they were, making plans to jet off to the UK. He had no idea they were even allowed to leave the country like this during filming, last time they had to stay the whole three months—Jack remembers celebrating his birthday on set with only his mom and none of his friends of family from home.

Jamie zipped up his bag and shrugged, "I've got my place in London, so we figured we'd stay there until the twenty-second, hit up the concert, and just chill for a few days."

The realisation hit Jack hard.

The closing night of the Eras Tour.

The night Juniper would be performing her final show as the opening act. A mix of emotions flooded him—confusion, shock, and something else he couldn't quite pin down. It was like a punch to the gut, the idea that Bailey and Jamie would be at her concert while he stayed behind, trying to forget.

"Why don't you come with us?" Jamie's suggestion broke Jack out of his thoughts, but his immediate reaction was to shut the idea down.

"What? No. No way."
