Juniper stepped back into her apartment, closing the door softly, like she didn't want to wake up her thoughts.

She lingered in the entryway, her coat still on and her fingers numb and tinged pink from the harsh New York winter. In the dim light, she saw her reflection in the hall mirror. She barely recognized herself—unsure, but somehow, for the first time in months, a small spark of hope had started to warm her from the inside. After everything Jack had said tonight, it felt like a weight had lifted, even if only slightly.

Taking a deep breath, she slipped out of her coat and kicked off her boots, leaving a small trail of melting snowflakes on the floor. Her mind was swirling with too many emotions, and she knew she wouldn't be able to settle down without talking this all through. She pulled out her phone, opening her group chat with Jenna, Mason, and Vinnie.

They had been her anchor through all of this, her steady rocks when the ground seemed to keep shifting.

Within moments, her screen was filled with their faces, her friends appearing one by one in the small rectangles, their expressions already full of worry and curiosity. They settled in, adjusting their cameras, and she could feel their attention centering on her, grounding her in a way she desperately needed.

"So..." She sighed, running her fingers through her hair, searching for the words. "I, uh—I went to Jack's place tonight."

Their faces registered surprise in different ways: Jenna's brows shot up, Mason's mouth fell open slightly, and Vinnie's head tilted, studying her with a look that told her he'd been ready for this in some way.
