april 29, 2025The days since the final show of Juniper's North American tour had passed in a peaceful blur. After months of constant motion—tour buses, rehearsals, and performances—she found herself relishing the quiet. Her Hollywood Hills home had become a sanctuary, and having Jack there with her made it feel complete.
Jenna and the others had flown home two days ago, and Vinnie had gone home to Seattle to celebrate his brother's birthday. For the first time in what felt like forever, it was just Juniper and Jack. They'd slipped into an easy rhythm, their days filled with small, ordinary moments that felt extraordinary in their simplicity.
Jack had initially booked a hotel, but Juniper had insisted he stay with her. "What's the point of a hotel when I have a guest room? Besides, you're better company than the walls," she'd teased. He hadn't needed much convincing.
Now, they were taking things slow. They hadn't gone out much, apart from a quick trip to the grocery store, where Juniper's oversized sunglasses and Jack's baseball cap had done enough to shield them from curious glances. They wanted their fresh start to be theirs alone, untainted by paparazzi speculation or social media frenzy.
Earlier that evening, they'd decided to cook dinner together. Juniper had suggested it casually, but Jack jumped at the chance to do something domestic with her again. The kitchen quickly became a warm, chaotic scene as they prepared a simple pasta dish and a salad. Juniper took charge, chopping vegetables with precision, while Jack was supposed to stir the sauce.
"Jack," Juniper scolded with mock sternness, catching him sneaking a spoonful of sauce straight from the pan. "If you eat all of it now, there won't be any left for dinner."
He grinned sheepishly, licking the spoon. "I'm just making sure it's good."
"It's fine," she replied, swatting his hand away as he reached for another taste. "Now stop it, or I'll put you on dish duty."
"You're cute when you're bossy," he teased, stepping behind her and wrapping his arms around her waist.
She froze for a moment, feeling his warmth, before leaning back into him.
"You're lucky I like you," she muttered, trying to keep her tone light despite the fluttering in her chest.
"I'm very lucky," he murmured into her ear, his voice low and sincere.
Juniper felt her heart race as she stirred the pasta, trying to focus on anything but how natural it felt to be in his arms again. Jack eventually let her go, stepping back to set the table while she finished up. The moment lingered, though, and she couldn't shake the feeling that she was falling deeper for him.
After dinner, they found themselves curled up on the couch, a bowl of popcorn between them. Dirty Dancing played on the TV, and Jack couldn't help but smile. He'd seen the movie before, of course. How could he not? It was Juniper's favorite, and she'd made him watch it during one of their earlier dates.
"I still don't get the watermelon thing," Jack teased as the iconic line played.
Juniper gave him a playful nudge. "Don't disrespect the watermelon line. It's sacred."
"Sacred?" he echoed, feigning incredulity. "It's about fruit."
She laughed, her head tipping back against his shoulder. "You just don't appreciate cinematic genius."
