Juniper's apartment was quieter than usual, a rarity considering how chaotic her life had been in the weeks leading up to her album announcement. The whirlwind of photoshoots, interviews, and endless rehearsals had finally slowed down for just a moment, giving her a sliver of peace before the storm hit again.

She sat cross-legged on her living room floor, her laptop perched on the coffee table as she finalised some details with her manager, Hayley, for her performance at the AMAs. Jack was sprawled out on the couch behind her, scrolling through his phone but clearly distracted. She could feel his eyes on her every few minutes, like he was trying to work up the courage to say something.

Juniper smirked to herself, already knowing what was coming.

"You know," Jack began, his voice cutting through the comfortable silence, "you've been real mysterious about that last song. What's it called again? 'This Love'?"

She didn't look up from her laptop, but the corners of her mouth twitched upward. "Mhm. That's the one."

"And you're really not gonna let me hear it?" he pressed, leaning forward so his elbows rested on his knees.

"Nope."

Jack groaned dramatically, throwing himself back against the couch cushions. "June, come on. You've played me bits of almost every other song. Why not this one?"

She finally turned to look at him, raising an eyebrow. "Because this one's special."

"All of your songs are special," he argued, his tone both exasperated and affectionate.

"This one's different," she corrected, her voice softer now.

Jack tilted his head, his curiosity only growing. "Different how?"

Juniper hesitated, her gaze dropping to her laptop screen. She had been so careful about keeping "This Love" under wraps, even from the people closest to her. It wasn't because she didn't trust them—it was because the song was hers in a way that felt almost sacred.

It wasn't just about Jack, though he was undeniably the heart of it. It was about everything they had been through: the heartbreak, the growth, the rediscovery of each other. It was about the way their love had weathered every storm and still managed to find its way back.

"It's just... really personal," she said finally, her voice barely above a whisper.

Jack's expression softened, and he slid off the couch to sit beside her on the floor. "I get that," he said gently. "But, June, you know I'm not gonna judge. If anything, I'll probably love it more than anyone else."

She smiled at him, her chest tightening. "I know you would. That's kind of why I'm keeping it a secret."

His brows furrowed in confusion. "Why?"

"Because it's about us," she admitted, her voice trembling slightly. "It's about how everything we've been through brought us back together. And I want the first time you hear it to be... special. I want it to hit you the way it hit me when I wrote it."

Jack stared at her, his brown eyes searching hers. "You're really gonna make me wait until the album drops, aren't you?"

She nodded, her grin mischievous now. "Yup. Think of it as my birthday gift to you."
