i'll spend forever wondering
if you knew.
─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───

i woke up to the soft patter of rain against the window, the kind of morning that makes you want to stay in bed forever. the air felt crisp, and the warmth of the blankets cocooned me in a way that made everything outside feel distant. billie was still asleep beside me, her breathing slow and steady, her face relaxed in a way that made her look years younger.

i turned on my side, facing her, just watching the way the faint light from the window touched her skin. it was moments like these, when everything was quiet, that i realized how lucky i was. not because of her fame, not because of mine, but because of this—this stillness, this peace between us.

we weren't always like this. we had our storms, the kind that tore at us, made us question everything. but we always came back to this: mornings like these, where nothing else mattered.

as if sensing me watching, billie stirred, her eyes fluttering open. she blinked up at me, a sleepy smile tugging at her lips.

"morning," she mumbled, her voice raspy and warm.

"morning," i whispered back, brushing a strand of hair from her face.

we stayed like that for a while, just soaking in the quiet, the rain outside a gentle background to our unspoken connection. sometimes words felt unnecessary; sometimes, just being here, together, was enough.

"do you ever think about it?" i asked softly, breaking the silence.

she raised an eyebrow, still half-asleep. "think about what?"

"how we ended up here. after everything."

billie let out a small sigh, her eyes meeting mine. "yeah. all the time." her voice was serious now, more awake, and she reached out, her hand finding mine beneath the covers. "we've been through so much, evelyn. but no matter how messy it got, you were always it for me."

my heart tightened at her words, a wave of emotion crashing over me. i squeezed her hand gently, my mind wandering back to all the years we'd known each other. the times we almost fell apart, the moments we almost lost each other, and yet, here we were.

"same," i whispered. "it's always been you."

she shifted closer, her forehead pressing against mine. "then let's keep it that way."

the rain outside continued, soft and steady, a perfect soundtrack for the quiet promise we didn't need to say out loud.

i was enchanted to meet you.
