32 | The preparations

After what happened in Bangalore I was so much confused on what to do next. Should I accept and start roaming as lovers?  How we both will marry as he say?

If my parents know about me getting proposed for love, definitely I would get scolded , even beatings. If they even know that I was flirting these many days, I am a gone case. 

All my mistake. I must not have encouraged or played with him in this flirting game.

With loads of thoughts I went to my house and freshened up. My mom and Dad were talking something intently. I don't know what it was. 

Freshening up myself, I went to take the music classes as my mom was busy with something else. Once the classes were over, I asked my mom what it was.

"we have got an alliance for you and we were discussing about it"

"what ?? Maa when did this all happen?"

"when we went to your cousin marriage, we received this proposal for you. They seem to be of a good family. That guy is also working as a professor and is earning well. So we thought.." I cut my mom short.

This is the reason, I don't wear sarees for the functions. The parents of unmarried guys always would be on hunt for an un married girl and spoil their life early like this.

"maa.. I can't marry him"

"why?"

"because.. because.. he is a professor"

"so what?"

"please ma.. not him please. A professor should not marry a student. Its forbidden you know" I pleaded which went in to deaf ears.

"you know as per law, the legal age for a girl to get married is 25. Plans are there to extend it to 27 in future. GO has not yet passed. But discussions are going on " 

My sister in law who was assisting my mom in the kitchen gave a scrutinizing gaze at me stopping her work.

"25? are they teaching you law as well in your college?" she queried me.

"ahh.. that.. its its an allied subject. Everyone should learn all the different subjects"

"seriously?" my sister in law questioned me.

"yep. just like how CSE students in Engineering college learn about Civil and mechanical in 1st year, we too are taught law"

"Don't lie Harini. We know what to do" my mom found out that I am lying badly.

I stormed out of my house angrily and went to the temple and prayed to Lord Ganesha. 

"oh God. why do you want me to face this confusing situation? Today, Professor Vikram proposed me. At the same time, my parents have found another professor alliance for me. What will I do? Why is all the professors are playing in my life like this? Why... wait.. wait.. will it be like what I think? what if the marriage proposal is from Vikram sir?"

Stupid Harini.. you must have listened to your mom's words fully before talking.

Thinking of that  my heart beat fast in happiness. I prayed again to God sincerely and heavily that it must be the same person. 

I rushed back to my house. Now I did not know how and what to ask my mom to check the details of that proposal.

I sneakily tried to take my mom's phone but she caught me. 

"Maa.. my mobile does not have charge. Let me use yours for sometime. I want to watch youtube"

My mom agreed. I came out of my house and went to the terrace and opened her whatsapp. I checked for any new numbers and there it was a new number. I checked the dp and it had  an elderly couple.
