As soon as she stepped outside, she spotted Keia who was sitting on a bench near the entrance, looking up expectantly. When she saw Seline approaching, she jumped to her feet and hurried over.
"N'Keia!" Seline called, her tone was flat, though it wasn't entirely unkind.
Keia's face lit up the moment she heard Seline's voice, she rushed over thrusting the bouquet and takeout container into Seline's hands.
"P'Seline I brought you flowers and food... your favorite," Keia said with a huge smile.
Seline looked at the gifts, her heart sinking. She knew Keia meant well, but this wasn't what she needed right now. "Please stop dropping by here, N'Keia. I don't want anything from you." Seline said her voice firmer than before.
Keia's smile faltered, her hands lingering in the air for a moment before she lowered them slowly. She blinked, stunned by the rejection.
"No! I won't give up." she said, her voice shaking with determination, though there was a hint of desperation in her words.
Seline's patience was wearing thin. "N'Keia, please..I'm busy with work. You're not busy because you don't have a real job" She blurted out, her frustration getting the better of her.
As soon as the words left her mouth, she regretted them, but the damage had been done.
Keia stood frozen for a moment, the hurt flashing in her eyes. She didn't say anything, just stared at Seline, her heart visibly breaking.
Without warning, she turned on her heel and ran, her boots hitting the pavement hard as she sprinted away.
After a few yards, she stopped and turned around, waving at Seline with a forced smile.
Then she disappeared into the bustling street, leaving Seline standing there, holding flowers and food she hadn't wanted in the first place.
Seline sighed heavily, staring at the bouquet in her hand. She hadn't meant to hurt Keia, but she didn't know how to make her understand.
With a frustrated shake of her head, she walked back into the office.
As soon as she entered, she tossed the bouquet into the nearest trash can without a second glance and handed the takeout to Gap, who looked up at her with a confused look.
"Here. You can have this." Seline said curtly before heading back to her cubicle.
Once she sat down, she released a long, deep sigh, tapping her fingers on the desk in frustration. "What am I going to do with you, Keia Kornnaphat?" She muttered under her breath.
"You stubborn, stubborn girl."
