Y/N's POV
The world felt like it was spinning as I stumbled through the door of our shared apartment, clutching my side where a sharp pain radiated. I had underestimated the danger of our last mission, and now I was paying the price. The adrenaline from the fight had faded, leaving only a throbbing ache and a rising tide of worry.
As I entered, the familiar hum of the place comforted me, but that comfort was short-lived when I saw Vision standing in the living room. His expression shifted from calm to alarm in an instant, his eyes widening at the sight of me.
"Y/N!" he exclaimed, rushing to my side. "What happened? Are you injured?"
I waved him off, trying to muster a nonchalant smile despite the pain. "It's nothing, really. Just a scratch."
But even as the words left my mouth, I knew I was lying. I could feel the warmth of blood seeping through my shirt, and the concerned look on Vision's face told me he wasn't buying it.
"This is not just a scratch," he insisted, his voice laced with worry. "You need to sit down. Let me help you."
Vision's POV
Seeing Y/N hurt ignited a protective instinct deep within me, one that I often struggled to understand. I had witnessed her bravery countless times, but the thought of her in danger twisted something in my core.
"I'm fine, Vision," she replied, though the way she winced told me otherwise. "It's part of the job."
"This is not just part of the job!" I said, trying to keep my voice steady. "You could have been seriously injured or worse. You need to be more cautious."
Her eyes flashed with frustration, and I could sense the tension building. "I can take care of myself! I'm not some fragile thing that needs to be protected."
Y/N's POV
I felt my heart race as the tension in the room escalated. Vision was only trying to help, but his concern felt suffocating. "You're treating me like I can't handle myself, like I'm weak. I'm not weak, Vision! I'm trained for this!"
His expression softened, but the worry remained. "I know you're strong, Y/N. But that doesn't mean you should throw yourself into danger. I can't help but feel responsible for you."
"Responsible?" I echoed, anger boiling beneath the surface. "This isn't about responsibility; it's about trust! Trust that I can handle what's thrown my way."
Vision's POV
The argument was spiraling, and I could feel the emotional intensity crackling between us. I had always admired Y/N's strength, but seeing her hurt awakened a protective instinct I struggled to contain. "You have to understand, Y/N. I care about you. I can't stand the thought of losing you."
"And I care about you, but I can't live my life in a bubble! I'm not asking for you to shield me from everything!" Her voice was rising, and I could see the hurt behind her eyes.
"Then what do you want from me?" I asked, frustration leaking into my tone.
Y/N's POV
His question cut deep, and for a moment, I was at a loss for words. I wanted him to understand that my desire to fight alongside him wasn't about recklessness; it was about partnership. "I want you to support me, not hold me back!"
