The hum of the elevator was the only sound in the air, its steady motion a background noise that neither Y/N nor Loki had paid much attention to—until it suddenly stopped. The lights flickered briefly before the elevator jerked to a halt, the lurching motion sending a jolt through them both.
"Great," Y/N muttered, pressing the buttons on the panel in front of her in vain. Nothing responded.
"Of course, the moment I have to endure this infernal contraption, it breaks down," Loki scoffed, his tone dripping with sarcasm as he leaned back against the wall, arms crossed.
Y/N sighed, her frustration only growing as she leaned her forehead against the cool metal of the door. This was supposed to be a routine mission, and she hadn't expected to get stuck in an elevator with Loki of all people. The god of mischief had a way of making everything—complicated. His sharp tongue, his enigmatic personality, and the way his presence seemed to fill a room with an energy that was both intoxicating and infuriating.
"Well, at least you won't die of boredom," Y/N shot back, trying to keep her tone light despite the tension in the small, confined space.
Loki's eyes flicked to her, and there was that familiar gleam in his gaze, the one that always left her feeling like he knew far more than he let on. He pushed off the wall and moved closer, his presence suddenly overwhelming in the confined space of the elevator.
"And what will you do to entertain me, little mortal?" Loki's voice was low, a teasing edge to it as he stepped closer, closing the distance between them with predatory grace.
Y/N's breath caught in her throat, the air between them thick with unspoken tension. She could feel her pulse quicken, the close quarters making it impossible to ignore the way Loki's piercing gaze held hers. There had always been something between them—an electric charge that flared whenever they were near each other, an unspoken challenge that neither of them had ever fully addressed.
"I'm not here to entertain you, Loki," she replied, though her voice lacked the conviction she wanted it to have. She could feel the heat rising in her cheeks, the intensity of his gaze making her heart race faster.
"No? Then perhaps I'll entertain myself," Loki mused, his lips curving into a smirk as he reached out, his fingers lightly brushing against her arm. The touch was barely there, but it sent a jolt through her that she couldn't ignore.
"Loki—" Y/N started, but her words caught in her throat as his hand moved up to gently trace the line of her jaw. The coolness of his touch contrasted with the heat rising between them, and it made her skin tingle.
"Why do you fight it, darling?" Loki's voice was soft now, almost a whisper as he leaned in, his breath warm against her ear. "This... thing between us. You feel it, don't you?"
Y/N's mind was racing, her thoughts a jumble of conflicting emotions. She had felt it for a long time, the pull between them, the way Loki seemed to draw her in even when she knew she should keep her distance. But being trapped here, in this small space with him, made it impossible to deny what had been simmering beneath the surface for far too long.
"I don't—" Y/N tried to protest, but the words died on her lips as Loki's fingers tilted her chin up, his eyes locking onto hers with an intensity that stole her breath.
"You do," he murmured, his voice sending a shiver down her spine. "Admit it, Y/N. It's the only honest thing in this moment."
And then, before she could form another thought, his lips were on hers—soft at first, testing, as if waiting for her to push him away. But she didn't. Instead, she found herself leaning into him, her body betraying her thoughts as she kissed him back, the taste of him intoxicating in a way she hadn't expected.
Loki's hands moved to her waist, pulling her closer as the kiss deepened, the tension between them finally snapping like a taut string. The heat of the moment took over, the weeks—no, months—of unspoken feelings pouring out as they gave in to the passion that had been building between them.
The confined space of the elevator only seemed to heighten the intensity of their kiss, their bodies pressed together as if the world outside had ceased to exist. Y/N could feel the cool metal of the wall against her back as Loki pushed her gently against it, his hands roaming over her body with a hunger that matched her own.
For a moment, everything else melted away—her worries, the mission, the broken elevator. There was only Loki, his touch igniting a fire within her that she hadn't realized had been smoldering for so long.
When they finally pulled apart, both of them were breathless, the air around them thick with the aftermath of what had just happened. Loki's forehead rested against hers, his hands still gripping her waist as if he didn't want to let go.
"I knew you wanted me," Loki breathed, his voice low and filled with a smug satisfaction, though there was a tenderness in his gaze that softened the arrogance.
Y/N let out a shaky laugh, still catching her breath as she looked up at him. "You're insufferable, you know that?"
Loki's lips curved into a grin, though there was a warmth in his eyes now that hadn't been there before. "And yet, you find me irresistible."
Y/N rolled her eyes, but the smile tugging at her lips betrayed her. "Maybe I do."
The elevator jerked suddenly, lights flickering back to life as the mechanism whirred to life once more. The spell between them broke, reality rushing back in as the elevator began to move again. But as they stood there, still pressed close together, Y/N couldn't help but feel like something had changed between them—something that couldn't be undone now.
When the doors finally slid open, revealing the hallway outside, Loki stepped back, though his hand lingered on hers for just a moment longer.
"This isn't over," he whispered, his eyes dark with promise as he turned and strode out of the elevator, leaving Y/N standing there, heart pounding, the ghost of his kiss still lingering on her lips.
