Y/N had always known that being around Pietro would be a whirlwind of emotions. His charm, speed, and playful demeanor drew her in from the very first moment they met. Today, however, as they spent time in the bustling common area of the Avengers compound, Y/N couldn't shake the feeling of unease that settled in her stomach.
They were all gathered for a team meeting when, during a brief break, Pietro sauntered over to a group of their teammates. Y/N watched as he effortlessly slipped into conversation, his laughter infectious and his confidence radiating. Everything seemed perfectly normal until she noticed how he leaned in a little too close to Natasha, playfully nudging her side and exchanging flirty banter.
For some reason, that innocent interaction stirred something deep within Y/N. A sense of possessiveness washed over her, and her heart sank at the sight of their easy chemistry. She tried to shake off the feeling, reminding herself that Pietro was naturally charming and playful with everyone. Still, the tightening in her chest remained, making it difficult to concentrate on anything else.
"Hey, Y/N! You okay?" Steve's voice broke through her thoughts, pulling her back to the present.
"Yeah, just... tired," she replied, forcing a smile.
Steve raised an eyebrow but didn't press further. Instead, he returned to his conversation with Tony, leaving Y/N to wrestle with her own feelings.
As the day wore on, the playful banter between Pietro and Natasha continued. Y/N tried to join in, but each time she opened her mouth, the words caught in her throat. She felt like an outsider in their little bubble, and it stung more than she anticipated.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the day concluded, and the team dispersed. Y/N took a deep breath, trying to calm the whirlwind of emotions inside her. She headed to her room, hoping that some solitude would help alleviate the tension that had built up.
Moments later, she heard a light knock on her door. It swung open to reveal Pietro, his usual carefree expression replaced with something more serious.
"Hey, you," he said, stepping inside. "You vanished on us. Everything okay?"
Y/N forced a smile, but it felt strained. "Yeah, just needed a moment. It was a long day."
He studied her for a moment, his brow furrowed with concern. "You sure? You seemed off during the meeting."
"I'm fine," she replied a bit too quickly, not wanting to admit the truth that had been gnawing at her.
"Y/N..." he started, his voice softening. "You know you can talk to me about anything, right?"
The sincerity in his eyes made her heart ache. "I know, but it's nothing important. Just... a little jealousy, I guess."
"Jealousy?" he repeated, tilting his head. "About what?"
She hesitated, her heart racing as she recalled the earlier scene. "You and Natasha seemed really close today. You were flirting with her, and it just... made me feel weird."
Pietro's expression shifted, a mixture of surprise and understanding washing over him. "Oh, I didn't mean to make you feel that way. It was just harmless fun."
"I get that," she said, her voice quiet. "But it still bothered me. I don't want to feel this way, and I shouldn't. It's just... it's complicated."
Pietro stepped closer, closing the distance between them. "Y/N, look at me." When she finally met his gaze, his eyes were intense and filled with sincerity. "I care about you. You're the one I want to be with."
The air between them thickened with unspoken feelings, and Y/N felt her pulse quicken. "But you're so charming, and everyone loves you. I'm just... me."
"You're incredible, Y/N," he insisted, his voice earnest. "You're the one who makes me feel alive. It's you I want. Trust me."
Y/N could feel her heart swelling at his words, but the insecurities lingered like a shadow. "But what if someone else comes along? Someone who's more fun, more exciting?"
Pietro reached out, gently cupping her face in his hands. "No one else could ever take your place. I mean it. When I look at you, I see my future. I want to build something real with you, and I'm terrified of losing that."
In that moment, the flood of emotions broke free, and Y/N felt tears prick at her eyes. "I don't want to lose you either. I've never felt this way about anyone before."
"Then don't pull away from me," he said softly, his thumb brushing away a tear that had escaped down her cheek. "Let's stop overthinking and just be together. Can we do that?"
Y/N nodded, feeling a wave of relief wash over her. "Yes, please."
As if sensing the shift in the atmosphere, Pietro leaned in closer, his breath warm against her skin. "Can I confess something?"
"Of course," she whispered, heart racing.
"I've been feeling the same way. Every time I flirt or joke around, I'm just trying to lighten the mood. But when I saw you looking a little sad today... it hurt. I didn't want to be the cause of that," he confessed, vulnerability etched across his features.
"Really?" she asked, a mixture of surprise and warmth flooding her chest.
"Really," he confirmed. "I didn't realize how much it would affect me until I saw you react."
The weight of their emotions hung in the air, raw and real. In that moment, Y/N felt a sense of clarity. "I guess we both have our fears."
"Yeah, but I don't want fear to dictate our relationship," he replied, his voice low. "I want us to communicate, to be open with each other."
"I want that too," she said, her heart pounding with newfound determination.
Pietro took another step closer, his eyes searching hers for permission. "Can I show you how much you mean to me?"
"Please," she whispered, anticipation coursing through her veins.
With that, he closed the gap between them, his lips capturing hers in a tender kiss. It was soft at first, testing the waters, but as the kiss deepened, all the tension that had built between them melted away. His hands slid to her waist, pulling her closer, grounding her in the moment.
When they finally broke apart, both breathless, Pietro rested his forehead against hers. "I don't want to ever make you feel like that again."
"Neither do I," she said, her voice a mix of vulnerability and strength. "Let's promise to communicate better."
"Promise," he replied, his tone serious yet tender. "You're my princess, and I'll do whatever it takes to keep you happy."
Y/N smiled through her lingering tears, feeling lighter than she had in days. "And you're my speedster. I care about you more than I can say."
Pietro brushed his fingers against her cheek, a playful glint returning to his eyes. "So, about that flirting with Natasha..."
"Stop it!" Y/N laughed, playfully swatting at his arm.
"Okay, okay," he chuckled, his laughter infectious. "But seriously, let's keep this honesty thing going. No more jealousy, just us."
"Agreed," she said, feeling the warmth of their connection wrap around them like a comforting blanket.
As they stood together, the weight of unspoken tension dissolved, replaced with an electrifying sense of understanding and love. They knew they had work to do, but together, they could face anything that came their way.
"Let's make a pact," Y/N suggested, a grin breaking out across her face. "No more misunderstandings. If something bothers us, we talk it out immediately."
"Deal," Pietro replied, matching her grin. "And if I ever make you feel jealous again, I'll do push-ups until you forgive me."
"Deal!" Y/N laughed, feeling the tension from earlier dissipate into the air.
As they leaned in for another kiss, the world outside faded away. They had conquered their fears and insecurities, choosing to embrace the love they shared rather than let jealousy divide them. With their hearts intertwined, they faced the future together, ready to create a story filled with laughter, understanding, and an unwavering bond that would only grow stronger.
