Vision stood in the quiet living room of the Avengers compound, his eyes fixed on the book in his hands, though he wasn't reading the words. His mind was elsewhere, preoccupied with thoughts of Y/N. She had this remarkable ability to make him question everything, even things he'd thought he fully understood—like human emotions.
Y/N entered the room, breaking his focus. She moved with ease, her presence somehow grounding and disarming at the same time. She noticed Vision immediately and smiled warmly.
"Hey, Vision. Deep in thought again?"
He looked up from his book, his gaze softening as it landed on her. "You could say that. I've been thinking a lot about something recently."
Y/N raised an eyebrow as she sat on the couch beside him, curling her legs beneath her. "Oh? Care to share?"
Vision hesitated for a moment, then set the book down. He always admired how easy it was to talk to her, but this particular subject felt more complicated. "I've been thinking about what it means to... care for someone deeply. Romantically, I suppose."
Y/N blinked, caught off guard by the topic. "Romantically?"
"Yes," Vision continued, his tone thoughtful. "It's a concept I've observed many times, yet the depth of it remains something I don't entirely comprehend. But recently, I find myself wondering more about it."
Y/N tilted her head, intrigued. "What brought this on?"
Vision looked at her carefully, unsure if he should say what was really on his mind. But Y/N had always been honest with him, and he trusted her. "You," he admitted quietly. "Being around you has made me question what I know about... love."
The words hung in the air between them. Y/N stared at him, her expression unreadable for a moment as she tried to process what he was saying. She had never expected to hear something like this from Vision, especially not directed at her.
"Me?" she echoed softly, her heart pounding in her chest.
Vision nodded, his brow furrowing slightly as if he was still trying to make sense of it all. "Yes. When I'm with you, I experience something I can't quite explain. A sense of comfort and connection that is... unlike anything else."
Y/N felt a warmth rise in her cheeks. She had always known Vision was different—intelligent, gentle, and curious about the world—but she'd never imagined he would feel this way toward her. "Vision, I... I don't know what to say."
He tilted his head slightly, his curiosity piqued. "You seem surprised. Have you not noticed these feelings developing?"
She let out a breath, looking down at her hands. "I guess I've always thought of you as—well, not someone who would be interested in things like romance. But I should've known better. You're more human than most people I know."
Vision considered her words, then nodded. "I suppose I've always approached life from a logical perspective. But emotions, especially those I feel when I'm around you, defy logic. I find myself wanting to be near you, to understand you better, and to make you happy."
Y/N looked up at him, her eyes softening. "You already do make me happy, Vision. I didn't realize how much until just now."
A silence settled between them, not awkward but contemplative. Y/N bit her lip, trying to figure out how she wanted to respond. She hadn't expected this moment, but now that it was here, she realized there was a part of her that had been drawn to Vision for a while now. His sincerity, his desire to understand, and his gentle nature were things she had come to cherish.
"Vision," she began slowly, "I think... I think I might feel something for you too."
His eyes widened slightly, the faintest hint of surprise crossing his face. "You do?"
She smiled, the warmth in her chest growing. "Yeah. I didn't realize it until you said something, but I think I've been drawn to you for a long time now."
Vision blinked, processing her words as if they were a new discovery. "It seems we've both been experiencing something new."
Y/N chuckled softly, reaching out to place a hand on his. "I guess so. Life's full of surprises, huh?"
He looked down at her hand on his, marveling at the simple gesture. "Indeed. Though I must admit, I find this particular development... most pleasant."
Y/N smiled, her heart swelling at his earnestness. "So... what happens now?"
Vision looked into her eyes, his expression tender but determined. "I suppose we explore this—together."
The simplicity of his words made Y/N's heart skip a beat. She nodded, her smile bright. "Yeah, I'd like that."
Vision's gaze softened even further, his voice lowering. "As would I."
As they sat together, their hands still gently intertwined, Y/N felt a sense of peace settle over her. This connection—unexpected and new—felt right. It didn't matter that Vision was different. He was unique, and somehow, that made this moment even more special.
And for the first time, Vision allowed himself to feel something beyond logic, beyond understanding. He let himself simply be in this moment with her.
