Chapter 20

Later in New York

Natasha and Clint have decided to bring his family in a safe house before flying to the Tower. They didn't want to let the Avengers know about his family to keep them safe. Laura and the kids were disappointed that Clint leaves them alone after what happened. But Laura understands why Clint does this. She promises him to stay in the house with the kids until he goes to them. Laura also knows that to save Lyra was now a big priority. She has seen Natasha's view. To the left, Lyra has broken Natasha's heart. She tries to not showing this, but Laura can see it in her eyes.
„Bring her back home", Laura says to her husband and kisses him a short moment before she hugs Natasha. Both Avengers say goodbye and take their way to the tower.
„Tony will kill us. Even Thor and Loki", Natasha says, worried and angry. She has lost her little girl. The only thing she wanted was to show her a bit of a normal childhood.
„We will get Lyra back", Clint replies and brings both to the tower, „How could we know that they will find her in the middle of nowhere?" Natasha knows that Clint wants to calm her down, but she can't. She tries to find a way how they would get Lyra back.

At the tower, Tony and Thor come to the jet. Loki follows a few steps back. They are looking for Lyra.
„Where is my daughter?", Tony asks and looks at both. Natasha can't hold her tears back. Clint looks straight to Tony.
„Hydra found us. They say some words in Russian. It was horrible. After those words, Lyra was not the Lyra we know. She was like a machine under their control. They commanded her to kill Nat. They have her, Tony... we are sorry. We couldn't save her", Clint explains everything.
„No! You can't have lost our sister! We only have her back after all the time, and now you lost her again?", Thor shouts at them angry and can't believe that he lost his little sister again. Tony was quiet. He stares at them and breathes very fast. His little girl was kidnapped. He promised her to keep her safe, away from Hydra.
„It's your fault! I trusted you to keep her safe! And now? Now Hydra has taken her!", Tony mumbles and falls on his knees. He can't breathe. His heart feels like it's going to explode. She was one of his reasons to wake up every morning. How should he do it without her? Steve and Bruce also come out as they hear Thor's shout.
„What happen?", Steve asks and looks to the group. Natasha stares at him.
„They have her...", Natasha mumbles and cry, „Hydra have Lyra." Both, Natasha and Tony, cry a lot about it. The others go in and starts to plan for bringing Lyra back. They sit in the conference room and have a hologram with all known bases of Hydra.
"Where can Hydra want to hide her?", Steve asks. Loki sits mad in the corner and looks at the four avengers. Thor is also tense and looks at the map.
"Where have Stark and Natasha find Lyra last time? Eventually they will hide her nearly", Thor asks the group and Jarvis says something.
"Mr. Stark and Agent Romanoff have found Ms. Stark near of Los Angeles two years ago while in a mission. The base was empty. Only a child was left in a cell. They take her and Mr. Stark adopted her", Jarvis retells the story how both find Lyra in the past. Bruce looks concerned and looks at Loki.
"You and Lyra are both magicians. Is it possible that you can feel her energy?", Bruce asks him, and Loki doesn't hear him in the first moment. He just stares in the air.
"Loki? Bruce has asked you something", Thor shouts at Loki. All Avengers are tense. Loki looks up.
"Pardon, what was Bruce's question?", Loki asks and is distracted by the situation.
"Can you feel Lyra's energy? You both are magic user", Bruce replies calm and Loki shakes his head.
"No. Her powers just awakened. Until she knows how to use them and practice them", Loki answers the question sadly and feels useless.

Somewhere in Sokovia

The hydra agents have handcuffed Lyra before she becomes herself again. She cries a lot and begs to let her go. She knows that this time would be different. She has power which wasn't awakened two years ago. She also knows that she is a mix of a goddess and super soldier. A very dangerous mixture.
"Get her to the others", shouts the agent that holds Lyra by her arm. They push her to the cells. She can hear other persons in the cells. In the first moment, she waits to hear Winter's voice, but he wasn't her. This gives her hope that her escaped in this time while she was gone.
Lyra looks and tries to remember the way out, but she stops as she sees THESE chairs. The chair that stole every memory from Winter. She looks scared in the direction before the agent pushes her again.
"Don't stop!", shout the men. A guard by the cells open the door, and they lock Lyra in one of the cells. Scared looks Lyra and can hear that someone is with her in the room and hide. She goes in the corner and sit down on the floor. The tears are coming by the knowledge that she was a prisoner again.
"Don't cry Princess", a male voice comes from the shadows at the other side of the cell. Two persons w in the weak light. Lyra can see a girl with long brown hair and a boy with coloured blonde hair. Scared, Lyra stares at them and doesn't say a word. She is shaking, and her breath gets faster.
The girl comes near.
"We don't want to hurt you", the girl's voice is softly, and she has the same accent as the boy. By the second view, Lyra can see that they need to be siblings. They have the same eyes and nose.
„I'm Wanda and this is my brother Pietro", Wanda introduces herself and Pietro, „We won't hurt you. I promise. We are good people." Lyra looks scared.
„I'm Lyra", Lyra mumbles and doesn't trust them. She doesn't know where she is and who they really are. She looks to the door as a guard comes in. Wanda and Pietro rush away, and Pietro stays before his sister. But the guard takes Lyra. She is defences herself before he knocked her out. The guard brings her to the laboratory where some guards waiting with a scientist. They're looking at Lyra and see the purple eye colour.
„The text subject shows magical features, like changing her eye colours", the scientist says to an audio recording, „The plan is to use the power for hydra. We need to reset her brain and train her. We will remove the arm to make her more like the original winter soldier. This will begin today with a amputation. Thanks to the serum, her wounds will heal fast till tomorrow." They begin with the operation for removing Lyra's arm. She wakes up at the beginning and cry's loud from the pain. They didn't use anaesthesia for her. A few minutes is Lyra awake before she loses the consciousness.
The operation needs hours until two guards bring Lyra back to the cell.
As soon as the guards are outside the cell, Wanda and Pietro run shocked to Lyra. Wanda looks if she is breathing and looks worried. The girl is only one or two years younger as her. She can feel that this girl must got hurt a lot in her past, but she didn't look in her mind. She wants her to trust them.
„What have they done to her?", Pietro asks shocked. He doesn't want a answer because he can see what happen. They removed her arm. Wanda lays her jacket under Lyra's head as a pillow and stays on her side. Pietro looks to the door to protect both.
„They are monsters", Pietro says, and Wanda nods. She tries to help Lyra to heal, but her magic doesn't work on her, like someone else has cast a protective spell on her. She is sure that the girl isn't a normal human being, but she will never ask her.
„Winter", Lyra mumbles in her sleep and grabs Wanda's hand while sleeping. Wanda looks down and strokes her hair softly.
„We need to get out with her", Wanda says and looks at her brother, „They're going to kill her." Pietro nods and knows they need a plan.
