Chapter 59

Lyra sits in the common room and watches movies. She can't sleep and doesn't want to wake someone up.
„You can't sleep?", Steve's voice reaches out to her. He comes with two cups of coffee and gives her one. Lyra takes it.
„Thank you", she says and looks at him, takes a sip of the coffee, „And no. I can't sleep. Every time after being frozen, I can't sleep the first nights. Bucky calls it compensation of time. I don't know what that means but in three or four days I will get my normal rhythms back. Mum sleeps in my bed and I don't want to wake someone up. So, I am here and watching movies." Steve looks at her and nods.
"I need to apologize to you. I was an ass", Steve apologizes, "I know that you are a victim like Bucky. But something in my head snapped and I just saw you as the reason for all bad things that happened to us." Lyra is surprised and looks at him, thinks about it.
"Don't apologize. It was my fault that you snapped. I can't control all my powers and at our first meeting I didn't like you. You were the man in the stories about my grandfather who wanted my dad to be like you. My powers are controlled by my emotions. I will talk with Bucky when he comes home. He needs to know that it wasn't your fault or your control of emotions", she tells him and drinks her coffee, "So please don't apologize. Just let us make a new start." Steve nods and smiles softly.
"Okay. New start", he agrees and smiles. They sit in silent on the sofa and watch together the movie. Lyra thinks about Bucky and Steve.
"Do you fly today to Wakanda?", Lyra asks him and Steve nods.
"Yes. I will stay in Wakanda until Bucky wakes up", he answers and leans back. She nods and is glad that he stays with him while she needs to stay here.
"Keep an eye on him. I will follow as soon Shuri plans to wake him up. I want to be there when they wake him", she says and knows how irritating this is. He nods.
"I will", Steve answers and leans back, "How are you after finding out that Thor is your father?" Lyra sighs and looks up.
"I am okay. This doesn't change anything. Thor is just biologically my father. But Dad stays my father by choice. It's just good to know that Thor would have raised me if he had known that. But it doesn't change my past that Odin gave me to Hydra and my biological mother sounds like him that this would be good because I would have been a disappointment for her as princess", she answers, "But we change the topic. I want to watch the movie and wait that mum wakes up for pancakes." Steve nods and looks at her. He watches the movie, and both wait that someone of the others wakes up. Lyra thinks a bit about everything and wakes to the stairs as she hears steps. Wanda and Pietro come down. Both sit down between Lyra and Steve. Pietro lays his arm around his girlfriend and looks to the film.
"Did you sleep?", he asks her, and Lyra shakes her head. She leans back and doesn't look in his eyes. She doesn't want to explain it again.
"I will sleep in three or four days again", she answers and watches the movie. He doesn't look amused about her answer. Lyra lays her head on his shoulder and relaxes. He holds her and strokes her hair.
"I think I will make breakfast. Some wishes?", Wanda asks them. Pietro looks at his sister.
"Pancakes would be great", he answers and knows that this is Lyra's favorite. Wanda glances at him.
"Pancakes for the three of you? This will take an hour. You eat so much that I am wondering how Tony can stay rich", she answers and goes in the kitchen. Lyra looks to her and stands up.
"I try to help her", Lyra says and follows Wanda in the kitchen. She looks how Wanda begins to mix the pancake batter.
"Can I help you?", Lyra asks her and Wanda nods.
"Yes, you can start with the first pancakes", Wanda answers and gives her the first batter. Lyra nods and begins to bake the pancakes. She never has cooked before. Natasha has made her every day the breakfast. Wanda looks at Lyra.
„Did you have ever made before pancakes?", she asks as Lyra's first exemplars are burned. She shakes the head, and Wanda pushes her to the side.
„You never will make food again. Go and send Steve, he knows how to make eatable pancakes", she says, and Lyra goes to both men.
„Wanda wants Steve to help her. I can't cook", she says, and Steve goes to Wanda. Lyra sits next to Pietro and smiles.
„You should sleep", Pietro says calm. She sighs.
„Pietro. I was frozen for three weeks. My body is well rested. It's a side effect like my accent that I can't sleep a few days", she answers and cuddles with him. He holds her and doesn't like the answer.
„How was the meeting with you birth mother?", he asks, and the topic isn't even better.
„She sounds like Odin. Thor and Loki are back to Asgard with her. I don't want her to know. She says the I would be a disappointment for the royal family", she answers, „I am sure Loki would have stabbed her when Thor and I haven't been there." Pietro looks mad and holds her.
"You are a great person. Don't hear what she tells you", he replies, and she nods quietly. She watches the movie and thinks about it.
"Don't you have school today?", Lyra asks Pietro, and he nods.
"Yes, but we don't have the first lesson. So, we have time. You could come with us today. It's not a normal school day today. They all think about the prom tonight", he tells her. Lyra looks at him. Prom? Lyra thinks about it.
"Okay. I come with you. I need some documents for the MIT, also a good idea to come with you", she says, and he looks at her.
"Super. Do you have plans for tonight?", he asks her and grins. Lyra smiles at him.
"Hm I am not sure", she answers and smiles. He holds her and smiles.
"Do you like to be my date for tonight?", he asks and looks at his girlfriend. She nods.
"Yes. I would love to be your date", she answers and looks at him. He smiles and kisses her a moment.
"Come on guys. We have rules for you", Tony says and looks at both as he wanted to sit down with his coffee. Lyra looks up and laughs.
"Sorry dad. I haven't heard you. And you can't be mad for one kiss", she answers and leans against Pietro, "Oh and I need your credit card. I will go with Mum and Wanda shopping a dress for tonight. If Pepper wants, she can come with us." Pepper comes out of the kitchen.
"I would like to make a shopping trip with you guys", Pepper answers and smiles at Lyra, "I know a small dress shop in Manhattan." Lyra smiles and nods.
"Perfect. I want a dress for the prom with Pietro. I just was with you and dad by Stark Industries events years ago. So, I need a dress for tonight", Lyra says and smiles, looks at Pepper. Pepper nods and thinks about it.
"Yes. You looked so lovely in these dresses in this time. And now you are like an adult", Pepper answers and smiles, "I will call the school that Wanda can't go today to her lessons." She goes upstairs to her office to call the school. Lyra gets up.
"I think you are alone with Peter today", she says to Pietro and smiles, "But you can be sure that your date will look amazing tonight." Tony looks speechless. He hasn't said anything if she can go or not.
"I will send Yelena with you three. She should look after you to be sure nothing happens to one of you", Tony says, and Lyra looks at her father. She doesn't say something. Yelena was the worst person he can send with teenagers to a party.
"You should hide your alcohol before she can take it", Lyra warns him and goes upstairs to Natasha in her bedroom.
Lyra opens the door to her bedroom and sees both Widows in her bed. She smirks.
"If you don't stand up in 10 minutes, I will buy the most expensive dress with Pepper and Wanda alone", Lyra says, and Natasha sits up in a second.
"A dress? For what did you need a dress?", Yelena asks grumpy and looks at her niece, "You are a super soldier. Pants are better..." Lyra rolls her eyes and sits down to both.
"Normally, you are right. But tonight, I will go on a real high school prom with my boyfriend. This is the first and only time in my life that I can make a real teenager experience", she says and smiles, "Oh and Yelena, Dad wants you to play our babysitter tonight, because no one knows you." Yelena looks at Lyra and her mood goes darker.
"Really? Me? Can't someone else go? Clint could be a good decision. But on this high school events are no alcohol. They are just jumping in their expensive dresses in the darker hall", she says, and Lyra shakes her head.
"You are the only one that isn't officially an Avenger. And you can drink alcohol but no one else. But remember some of us can't get drunk", Lyra says, "And if you want you can come with us shopping." Yelena looks at Natasha and can't believe that her niece wants to be shopping with her.
"Your daughter jokes or? First babysitting and now shopping?", she asks Natasha and lays back, "I stay here and get ready emotionally to babysit three overpowered kids." Lyra looks at Yelena.
"Thank you. You are the best. I buy you a nice suit for tonight", Lyra says and goes to her wardrobe and changes, looks at Natasha, "Go ready. I am sure pepper and Wanda are waiting in the hall. I will wait for you with them." Natasha looks at her and nods. Both leave the bedroom. Natasha goes to her room and Lyra goes down to the others.
Tony argues with Pepper about how much they could spend for the dresses.
„Oh Dad.... Do you really discuss about the price? Your shoes costs more as my complete wardrobe. Oh, and I need new clothes. The most are two years old, and this doesn't fit anymore", Lyra argues with him and takes his credit card from his hand, "But don't worry, the dress will be the only expensive thing that I buy today. But Wanda needs also a dress and Yelena a suit. She doesn't wear dresses. Fighting in a dress isn't her style." Tony looks speechless and can't believe how this can happen.
"I miss the time as you were happy to get cheesecake with me and a pink dress", Tony says and sighs, "Happy will drive you to the store and every other station for the shopping tour." Lyra nods and smiles at him.
"Thank you, dad. I promise you that you don't become bankrupt today", she jokes and smiles, looks to Pietro who looks at his sister and girlfriend.
"Be careful. I want a relaxed day and not to worry about one of you", he says and smiles. Lyra nods.
"Of course. We are careful and two very powerful people. So, the bad guys should be careful to come near up", Lyra answers and smiles, "But I am enjoyed for tonight." Pietro smiles and looks at her.
"Me too. I am curious about the dress you will wear", he says and smiles. Lyra nods and feels the same.
"Have fun with Peter. We see us later", she says and smiles. Natasha comes down and to the other women.
"Yelena says she will sleep till we are back. So, we can go", Natasha says.
"Okay don't get into trouble", Tony says and hugs Lyra, kisses her forehead before he kisses Pepper.
"We are fine", Lyra says and hugs even Pietro a moment and smiles, "I see you later." Pietro nods and kisses her before he hugs Wanda. Lyra smiles and all four women go outside to Happy.
"Welcome home Lyra", Happy greets her and smiles, open the doors for the four. Natasha gets on the passenger seat and hides a weapon in the glove compartment and another under her seat. Lyra gets on the left and Wanda in the middle.
"Sorry Wanda, but this is the best plan for me with the metal arm", Lyra apologizes and Wanda nods.
"No problem. I understand and no one wants the hard arm in the side", Wanda answers and smiles weak. Happy drives them and take the radio on. Lyra look at Natasha which smile's because Tony is in the car and Lyra can't reach the radio.
"God thanks, Happy we have the control over the music. No AC/DC today", Natasha says. Pepper laughs and nods.
"You are so right. I know Tony for years and he hears this art of music every time. And Lyra is so much like Tony in many things", she says amused. Lyra looks to both women.
"What is wrong with being like dad? He is a genius in robotics and his taste of music is good", Lyra asks and looks at both.
"Nothing. You both are just similar in your doing. The music, the engineering. Years ago, everything you had was an old dress and a chain. And know you are the second richest person in New York. I am sure if he would buy you band shirts you would wear them all time", Natasha answers and looks to her daughter, "The only difference between you are the training of you and the species." Lyra looks at her mother and is speechless.
"That... wow... but we are not the same...", Lyra mumbles and looks at her.
"You even have both daddy issues with you biological fathers", Wanda says and looks at her. Lyra looks at Wanda.
"You are wrong. I have grandfather and mother issues with my biological family. Thor did everything he can, no problem and Loki a great uncle. In this world are five men I trust with my life. This are Thor and Loki, your brother aka my boyfriend, also Bucky and my dad", Lyra answers, "But Odin gave me to Hydra, and Sif says it was the right thing", she answers, "Thor and Loki are so protective that they bring her back in the middle of the night. Loki wanted to kill her after she said something to me." Wanda looks at her and sighs. She watches to the redheads and wait to arrive the dress shop. Lyra wants to change the topic.
„What kind of dress do you want, and did you have a date?", Lyra asks Wanda and looks at her. Wanda looks at her.
„I want a red dress. It shouldn't be too long and no I haven't a date. I go with some of the other girls which become my friends in the last weeks", Wanda answers, „What kind of dress did you want?" Lyra listens to Wanda and thinks about a dress.
„Green or dark blue with long sleeves and the length to the ground", Lyra answers and leans back.
„Why did you think you need to hide your arm in front of people you didn't know? It's a part of you and your history", Natasha asks her and looks at her daughter.
„You can say it easy. But I don't want that the others bully Pietro because of the girl he dates", she answers, „I am a murder and most of the people knows that Bucky has the same arm. If they are not brainless, they will know it." Wanda looks at her and shakes her head.
„You don't need to hide it. Pietro is a big boy. He knows the truth, and this is what count", Wanda says and looks at Lyra, „We all know that you and Bucky are victims of the life." Lyra listens to her and looks at her hands.
„Okay. Yes, you are right. Only Pietro is important for tonight and you two were with me as they amputated my arm, so it's okay", Lyra answers and smiles weak, „But my legs stay covered. One revival of my old injuries is enough for tonight." Wanda nods and Happy stops in front of the store.
„I will go in the coffee shop on the other side of street. Call me when you are ready", Happy says and smiles hat the women. Lyra opens her door and get out.
„Thank you Happy", Lyra says and smiles. The other get out too and Happy drives to find a parking spot. The four women go in the store and look around. The dresses are sorted by color.
"Okay. You go with Lyra, and I go with Wanda. We meet by the changing rooms and will look what dresses you like", Pepper says and smiles at them. Wanda nods and Natasha also agrees.
"Okay let's go. Red for Wanda and green for me", Lyra says and goes to the green dresses, looks what looks good for her. She finds some and looks also by dark blue dresses. Blue and green are her favorite colors so that she decided her dress will have one of these colors.
"Will you look if one dress is suitable for tonight?", Natasha asks her and smiles. Lyra nods as she sees that Natasha holds the top ten in her arms. Seven green and three blue dresses.
"Yes. I should try if one of them fits for me", Lyra agrees and goes to the changing room with Natasha. Wanda and Pepper are there and Pepper sits in front of the changing room while Wanda puts her dress on. Lyra takes the first dress and takes it on. She looks in the mirror. The dress is in a dark green with glitter and reminiscent of Loki's suits in Asgard. She likes it. It has no sleeves, but the rest of her body is covered.
"Okay I am coming out", Lyra says and comes to Pepper and Natasha, "What did you think?" Both women look at Lyra and smile.
"It looks very good at you. We can say it's an option but try the others before to make the decision", Natasha answers and smiles. Lyra nods and go back to try the next one, but she doesn't like the back. It doesn't hide anything on her back. Lyra put it off.
At the end just two are in the final. A green one and a blue one. Lyra looks at both dresses and sighs. Wanda has found her dress, and all are waiting for Lyra.
"The blue one would match to Pietro; he loves blue since we were children. But the green one lets shine your golden eyes and the golden elements at your arm. You should take the green dress", Wanda answers and smiles. Like looks to Pepper and her mother, both agree with Wanda.
"Okay. I take the green dress. We need a suit for Yelena and can go eat together before Happy picks us up", Lyra says and smiles. Natasha smirks and holds a bag up.
"I already have bought a suit for Lena. It's easy to buy her clothes", Natasha informs her and grins, "She is easier as you." Lyra rolls with her eyes.
"Lena would also go in jogger to the prom. She isn't interested in fashion", Lyra answers and goes with Wanda to the checkout and pays with Tony's card for both dresses. She smiles and they left the store.
"Okay. I need to eat, or I starve", Lyra says and hasn't eat today. Natasha and Pepper look around to see who they can eat with both.
"On this direction is an all you can eat buffet. It's very good", Natasha says and knows that this is the best option to fill Lyra's stomach.
"All you can eat? Great. So, I can eat much as I want. Let's go", Lyra says amazed and holds her bag. They go to the restaurant.
