Chapter 2

The meeting with Pepper was good. Lyra likes her and thought Pepper been a beautiful princess at the first look. All three have eaten together. Tony has learned that Lyra loves Pasta in the last days. He wished it would be Pizza, but Pasta was also okay for Tony, it was easy enough to cook by himself. Lyra was to shy to speak with Pepper direct, but Tony knows that Lyra feels safe as long he is with her.

"Tony, what is the next step with Lyra?", Pepper asks and smiles to the young girl. The girl was sweet and Pepper likes to see how Tony cares about someone other as him self. He looks up to Pepper and sips on his drink.

"I'm going to adopt Lyra and make her my legal daughter", Tony answers her question and looks at Pepper. No matter what Pepper thoughts about Tonys plan, he wanted Lyra to be his child. To make the world save special for her. Pepper nods and looks to Lyra. The green of her eyes shines more at the moment as Tony told Lyra his plan. It's looks like, she believes it more the more often Tony talks about it. He doesn't want Lyra to know that she has powers. He wants a normal life for her, even if her eyes make this plan complicated. But it is already looking for an idea to explain this to Lyra.

"That is great. I'm happy for both of you to become a family", Pepper says, "Tell me when you need help." She knows how much Tony likes this kid after the past days. But she also knows that Tonys doesn't think about parenthood for a girl that becomes a teenager in three or four years. Before this meeting one of Pepper's concerns was that the girl would be going to copy Tonys attitude in the future. This concern was away at the moment Pepper seen Lyra. Such a kind girl would never become like Tony.

"Pepper... when Tony becomes my father, does that mean you become my mother as Tony's girlfriend?", Lyra asks shy and looks over the table to her. Pepper shakes her had.

"No sweetheart, on the paper would be only Tonys name. But you and I would become close friends in the future", Pepper promises and smiles. She doesn't know this kid and wasn't ready to become a mother at this moment. So she only wants to help Tony with parenthood at the beginning, but she doesn't want to be a mother at this time. Lyra nods and smiles soft.

"It's okay. We're going to be friends and Tony to be my father. I never had a father as long I remember. The only one by my side was Winter. But he left me", Lyra tells her and looks sad. Her eye colour changes to blue and Tony places his hand at her back. She knows that Winter wouldn't leave her voluntarily. Hydra must control him again for one of his missions. All the time she hopes to find him one day fee.

"Tony, do you send Lyra to school with other children?", Pepper asks carefully. It would be important for this girl to meet other children her age, but she knows that Tony would teach her at home, when nobody says other. Tony looks to Lyra, who is confused.

"What is a school?", Lyra asks and looks up to the both adults.

"A school is an institution, where children of your age learn to reading and writing", Pepper answers and looks to Lyra. Lyra nods and looks to Tony.

"I can write and read. So I don't need a school", Lyra answers proud. Tony lets out a quiet laugh at Lyra's words. She was so sweet like sugar sometimes.

"No Bunny, you learn more as writing and reading in a school. I want to teach her the first year at home, before I send her to a private school. So we can know how long Hydra going to search her. And I would know that she is safe", Tony tells to Pepper, which nods understandable. This was a plan that Pepper can support in the first time. Lyra looks up, and both adults can see that she is deep in her thoughts.

"I want to go to a real school and meet other children. Please, Tony. I will be a good student and will study hard", Lyra requests. This request surprises Tony. This is Lyra's first request in the time since she lives with him.

"Okay, you can go to school, but Natasha, Happy, Pepper or I drive you to school and back every day. You don't walk home without one of us", Tony answers. He didn't want her to good so soon to a school, but he wanted the experience of a real childhood. Happy hugs Lyra Tony, and he can see the green in her eyes, his new favourite colour.

"Next week you can start, but you would need glasses because of your changing eye colours. These glasses would hide it for other people", Tony says strict. Lyra nods again and looks happy to him. "I promise to wear the glasses every time!", promises Lyra.

"Okay. I talk with the school and Fury. Oh, and with Natasha. She would be mad at me when I didn't tell her about this", Tony says and eat the rest from his meal. He is proud that Lyra dares to go to school so fast. At the same time, he is worried about Lyra and wishes that the other children would be nice to her. He knows that the name Stark can be open doors but also can be a reason for other kids to start bully Lyra. He doesn't remember when he starts to worries about her.

"Can I call you dad in front of other people or do you prefer Tony?", Lyra asks and looks to him. His smile becomes big and he tousles her hair.

"I would love to be call dad by you", Tony answers and is very happy about this. He wanted to do a better job than his own father. To be a father where your kid proudly tells other that Tony is the father.

His phone rings at the moment as he wanted to call Lyra his kid. Disappoint looks Tony on the name at the phone. "Perfect... Fury. What would he want to this time?", Tony mumbles and accepts the call.

"Grandpa Fury, what do you want?", Tony asks disparaging. Lyra can't hear what Fury answers, but she knows that only she can call Fury grandpa. Tonys face drops in the next moment. He looks to Lyra and Pepper before leaving the room. Lyra looks to Pepper which isn't happy about this.

"Do you think Fury is mad at him? I mean he says only I have the permission to call him grandpa Fury", Lyra asks. Pepper shakes her head.

"No Sweetheart, Fury want's Tony on a new dangerous mission. Some like the mission where he and Natasha found you. Tony doesn't want us worry about this", Pepper answers gentle and begins to take the dishes. Lyra stands up and start to help Pepper with cleaning the dishes. She was a little scared about Tony to go on a new mission. What if he gets injured?

"I am worried. I don't want Tony in danger", Lyra says and looks to Pepper.

"I also don't want him to go, but it's Tony's decision if he goes or not. But his armor protects him all the time. He comes healthy back, every time", Pepper answers and hugs the little girl. Tony came back and looks guilty to the both girls. He holds his mobile phone in the air.

"Fury needs me on a mission. I bring Lyra to him and use this time to talk with him about the school topic", Tony says and lifts Lyra up. She hugs him strong. At this moment Tony realizes that Lyra is stronger as a normal child. He fears what Hydra had done to her, but he doesn't fear Lyra.

"In the morning before you wake up I would be back. We eat together breakfast and I teach you about my projects", Tony promises and cuddles Lyra. To say goodbye, Tony kisses Pepper once more, and Lyra can't suppress a giggle. Together with Lyra goes Tony out of the building to his car and puts Lyra at the backseats. He gets in the car and drive to Fury's office. Lyra hears Tony's music at the radio, but with every minute more Lyra get more and more sleepy. "Hey Bunny, don't sleep in the car. Sleep in Fury's office", Tony says and smirks. Lyra nods only and falls asleep.
