'Monte's Pov'

"This mission is important, they are moving someone high profile. We need to secure that person and get as much information as possible. Our source on the inside tells us that the doctor won't be traveling with them and we need as much evidence of their betrayal as possible." Saint said, he always got so serious on missions, that when they said we'd be working together I knew I needed to be prepared for his seriousness. The only time anyone has ever seen him smile was when he was on a mission or during the last war against the Orcs. "What do we do with the person once we find them?" I said, everyone going on this mission had many questions, I'm sure, but they're scared of Saint and feel it's better to be in the dark about the mission than to have all of the facts. Saint has been the general of the council's guard since I joined and as much respect as I have for him I knew better than to give anyone a sign of weakness.

"Depending on the type of Fae they are, we are going to bring them to the council. Queen Asha believes that the humans have been stealing our kind since a rift opened. Rifts are so rare that it's only been recorded in history twice and the last rift was opened and closed by the gods. "The person we are grabbing is named Sabine Sinclair, her name has popped up many times since our team has been listening in on their conversations. From what they say she is dangerous and we should proceed with caution. If you see her leave her to me or Monte, those are my orders and I expect them to be followed." He said making sure to look everyone in the eyes. "Yes Sir!" They said loudly putting their arm over their hearts, a sign of respect. "Alright let's move out." We all follow him out of the safe house we've been staying at.

As we all pack into small moving vehicles I find myself wanting to go back to Sulden, our world was much more beautiful than this and a lot less noisy, these vehicles the humans value so much kill their planet and the beings living on it. On Sulden, even in the most dangerous parts of our world, the beings living there take care of it. As we drive faster speeding down the streets I see most of the trees in their forest dying and the wildlife scared to come near the road in fear of never making it across. I feel my lips lift in disgust, but I know getting distracted won't help during this mission. When we approach our stopping point, we all get out and I move forward to stand next to Saint. We wait until one of our mimics hears their vans closing in, he is one the most powerful mimics in the council's guard, able to mimic even people. Saint dispatches him as the distraction, mimicking a deer, he runs into the road causing the person driving the van to slam on the breaks. Our men quickly subdue the driver and the other man in the passenger seat. Saint opens the back door to see a buff human pointing a gun at him, "State your name and your business!" He yells as I move quickly on top of the van, I can see our other men have handled the other vans and are waiting on further orders from Saint.

I look back down to see Saint smiling at the man who he has pulled out of the Van, and I sigh bending down. "Do you want me to take care of him for you or are you done playing with the mouse?" I said, and once he finally threw the man to the side, I looked straight down and felt like someone was gripping my heart. The most beautiful woman I have ever seen stared back at me, her caramel skin was slick with sweat but it didn't seem to be coming from her, her eyes were a beautiful shade of chocolate brown, and her naturally curly hair sat above her shoulders, and even from here I could see the cute freckles that littered her heart-shaped face. I find that I can't look away, even after Saint blasts the man holding her in the face causing him to fall to the ground.

"Now that that's done, we can talk, we have a few questions," Saint says and I finally jump down from the van, the curvy form is dressed in what looks to be an off-white hospital gown, they seem to have her hands behind her back which I'm sure makes Saint happy since he is the one with the cuffs. "As long as you don't cook me like you did him, I'll answer anything you ask me." She said, her tone serious, making her statement even funnier. "You came from Ghost Asylum, so I'm guessing you know who the lead doctor is?" He questioned, she didn't speak and just nodded her head. "Was his name Fox Randell?" She nods again, a shiver running through her. I tilt my head to the side in wonder. "And where were they taking you?" Saint throws out, "I don't know."

Saint looks pissed his smile dropping from his face, he moves closer to her and I suddenly feel the need to do the same."I don't believe you; they have been talking about 'Sabine Sinclair' since we've been tracking them, you not knowing where they're taking you just doesn't add up." When she laughs my heart squeezes again I almost groan aloud, "Listen I don't want to be rude or anything but that is shit logic." When Saint looks at me I know exactly what to do, "Sorry pretty girl." I said before knocking her out, she felt light as she landed in my arms. I lift her and follow Saint back to our truck, all of our men follow behind us until we're all in and moving. She smelled strongly of medicine but her hair smelled of some sort of soap. Having her so close to me and sitting in my arms made me feel warm and secure in my seat. "Even though she says she doesn't know where they were going I believe if we can get her to tell us her story and where she came from we'll have all we need on the humans," Saint said, I frowned, and looked to where he sat in the front seat.

"How do you know if she is Fae?" One of the men says boldly questioning him. "We don't know what she is, I am assuming if what our informant says is true she will have witnessed something and we'll be able to use that to our advantage." He explains, I look back down at her and move her hair to get a better look at her. She seemed so peaceful, her skin soft under my rough fingers. She looked young but not young enough to be a child, closer to my age if I could guess. Fae have many traits that separate us from humans but I see none when I look at her, only a large bruise forming on the side of her face. All elementals, like Saint, have a red, blue, green, or yellow ring around their iris, signifying their connection with their element. Our merfolk, sirens, sea nymphs, and even water elementals have gills and sometimes fins that are present. Her beautiful skin, was unmarked by any of those things. We all sit in silence until we are back to the safe house, when we make it inside I lay her gently on the couch making sure to cut off the cuffs they used to bind her.

"General, I got a message from the council. They will be expecting us in 7 human days in the Blaze kingdom." Someone says to Saint, I hear him grunt a response and follow the person out of the room. I don't move from her side feeling as if I wasn't watching her she'd disappear. "Monte?" I look up and see one of the mermen we brought with us standing in front of me, but his eyes weren't on me, he was staring at her. His eyes raked over her like she was a star dazzling him. "What!" I snapped at him, he finally looked at me his eyes widening. "The general said to move her into the attic for questioning." He rushes out, I glare at him and lift her following him up the stairs.
