'Monte's Pov'

The attic in this place only had one light hanging above a table and a chair someone must've placed there. I sit her down and gently wake her, but she suddenly gasps. "Where am I?" She questions looking around. Saint walks into the room and glares at me once he sees she isn't bound to the table. "We have some more questions for you," Saint said aggressively, I moved to stand behind her knowing my attraction for her was leading me to feel protective, I needed to snap out of it, no matter how beautiful she was I knew better than to get distracted. " Listen as long as you let me go I'll answer any question you ask me."I frown knowing that wasn't going to happen. "How did you come to be at Ghost Asylum?" He questioned, she looked uncomfortable but when she glanced at me I knew she'd answer.

"When I was seven my parents were called into the principal's office because I had set another child on fire, but you see when they went to watch the footage I hadn't touched the child. He was one of those bully types, someone who felt because he was bigger he was better and I remember him trying to tell my friend she couldn't get onto the monkey bars. At the time I was all about sticking up for the little guy even though I was the little guy. When they saw the video they somehow knew exactly what to do. It was as if Ghost Asylum was on speed dial, my dad said he had a good connection. Even as a child, I knew something wasn't right. Once there I was put in a cage, a small pitch-black cell with only one door and no windows. They left me there for three weeks with no contact other than the whole they used to feed me through." She looked as though she was shaking but she wasn't really, she was chuckling I realized after a second. "Those days were extremely dark, but one day I started to hear a voice, and the voice had a name." She smiled softly as if she was remembering a fond memory. "Sin, she said her name was, she told me that if I trusted her she would save me from all the pain coming our way. I didn't believe her but I accepted her help and after that, the head doctor came promising that he'd cure me, us, as if we were sick and he had the answer to all of our troubles." When she looked at me she had a wild smile, something dark lingered behind it.

"I remember that day so well, It was the last day I had seen the two people I trusted most in the world. Mother and Father dearest looked at me as though they had seen a monster when that doctor came to tell them I had passed his little test. I still don't know exactly what he meant but as soon as he told them, they made it clear that they weren't coming back. After that when the tests started, I was brought into different rooms and they burned me, tried to drown me, and sometimes they cut me open just to test what I could handle every time I healed faster and faster until they started new types of tests. They started giving me things, at first I thought they were drugs but every time they didn't get the reaction they wanted I'd hear them say 'They're not mixing with her'. One day something did happen though, I felt different, all of my indestructibility I'd felt before was gone and then they started the whole process over again." When she finally finished her story she was glaring at Saint.

"Can I leave now?" She said Saint stood staring at her with his eyes wide before he composed himself. "I never said I'd let you leave, we still need to make sure your story adds up with what our people know." He said, She stands suddenly but something off. She's standing straighter and her features darkened as if all her anger had surfaced. "Listen here asshole I'm not staying here, I am leaving and when I do no one will be seeing me again." Her movements are quick, nothing a human can do, her body blurs until she ends up behind him. I didn't want to use my power but I knew I had no choice. Letting myself connect and mold with the shadows I move within them, she had made it past all of our men and was now standing in front of the door. I grip her wrist and turn her so she's held up against my chest. "Calm, my name is Monte Monroe and I won't hurt you," I whisper in her ear, I feel her relax a little in my arms but I realize too late it wasn't because she trusted me, she was out of my arms in seconds. I followed closely behind her as she moved further and further into the woods.

After we got a certain distance away from the safe house I felt the haunting presence that was in the direction she headed in.

'Sabine's Pov'

I was almost free I felt the breeze, cold on my skin and the grass under my feet, but as soon as I thought I was in the clear the beautiful man from before, Monte, tackled me. We went flying around in the forest until he was hovering above me with his hand covering my mouth. "You have to trust me just for a moment, keep as quiet as possible." He said, I frowned but did as he asked. When all was quiet, I heard it. Something was rumbling deeply and loudly. I turned my head and squinted my eyes, further out I saw what looked like a large bolder moving up and down as if it was breathing. "Commander Monte!" Someone yelled out in the forest behind us. The bolder suddenly shifted and a large head lifted, it was magnificent, a dragon. Not some fairy tail dragon but a dangerously beautiful creature, it stood at its full height. Its eyes locked on mine, I felt something shift in me, and my eyes began to itch. 'What are these beings doing on my land?' I hear a deep masculine growl. The sound seemed to only affect me because Monte didn't react, looking at the dragon still, he lifted me making sure I was steady on my feet before moving me behind him.

The dragon started towards us, prowling, stalking as if we were a tasty snack. 'I haven't had a treat like this in a while.' I heard him say, but he wasn't speaking out loud. His voice seems to echo in my mind. Monte moved his hands down to my waist gripping tightly, "Hold onto me." He said, I put my hands on his shoulders and in less than a second the dragon was out of sight and we were moving through what felt and looked like a dark cloud. 'Interesting the boy is a shadow, I haven't seen one of those in a long time.' The dragon's voice was still in my mind but it wasn't like before, when I was looking him in the eyes, this time he was there in my mind. I felt the moment when he realized it, 'Ah, I wonder where you've come from.' I feel my mouth go to move but before I can speak we are in front of the house again and Saint is standing in front of a group of extremely buff-looking men. "We need to move, now!" Monte said, just as the dragon came bursting through the trees. 'Fae' He didn't sound as aggressive as before, he landed, the wind from his wings strong. 'Come here girl, I won't hurt you.' I felt myself laughing. "If you think I'm gonna come anywhere near you, you're just as crazy as these weirdos," I said, he tilted his large head. 'These are not your people child?' I shake my head and look to the side where Monte is standing. "You are communicating with it?" I hear Saint ask behind me. I nod before turning my head back to the creature in front of me. "That's impossible, only the royal family can speak to the dragons." One of the men says, 'Hmm I haven't been back to my home in such a long time, child! I will protect you if you know the way to Sulden.' He said stepping forward. "What is it saying?" Saint said, his voice almost demanding. "He, the dragon is a he, and he wants to know the way back to a place called Sulden," I said, but this time I looked at him. 'You don't trust this one? I shall eat him if you wish.'
