'Saint's Pov'
I watch as Monte speeds off with Sabine in his arms, the Fenrir and the dragon following behind him in a storm of fur and leather. " And now what would you like us to do? Walk back with our tail between our legs to the queen? You didn't have a handle on that girl and she wound her way to seduce the shadow." I turn to him and level him with my deadliest glare. "I rank above you it seems you have forgotten. I was going to tell her gently what and where we needed to take her. I will explain to the queen if need be but you will be punished for your ignorance." I turn and go back to where my men are waiting for my orders. "We move now I want everyone prepared in five minutes and when we get to the castle you will be following my orders until I release you all, if anyone has any objections you may go back with Commander Silas," I said, everyone scrambled to gather their things and prepare for us to leave. I turn to see Marah speaking with Commander Silas and roll my eyes.
After my men gather their belongings we move out and make it to the rift in record time. I sigh as I let the silky feeling of moving through the rift glide over my skin. We make it to the palace just before Silas and his team. I push my shoulders back as I walk into the palace. The palace guards bow with respect for me and I nod to them showing my acknowledgment. The palace was grand indeed with the Blaze court being the second richest kingdom the royal family chose to go all out on the design. Everything was made out of blackened rock manipulated into merging with gold fillings. I turn down the corridor that leads me to where the council normally meets when the Blaze kingdom is hosting. I turn to my men and nod giving them all one more chance to back out or leave, when no one does I nod to the guards standing outside of the doors and they open them for us. I keep my eyes down as I bend down to one knee towards the council.
"Ahh here he is, you have perfect timing," Councilwoman Tyha said. "Rise," I rise and take in the council as a whole, Queen Asha sat at the head of the table surrounded by her mates dripping in ruby red, their signature color. King Rivo sat with his generals next to her and King Melevin sat surrounded by his personal council. "Where is she?" Queen Asha wastes no time asking in a hostile tone. "I have failed the council greatly, I was unable to bring her." I said, "When we met Commander Silas at a safe house, aggressively told her that she'd need to go to the lab before meeting you. She has trauma around hospitals and doctors, one of our guards started a courtship with her and didn't take kindly to his threats so he took her and they ran before anyone could stop them." I leave out a lot of very important information but I know how the council works. If I give them that information she will never be free of them.
"And who is this guard that you were unable to stop? Our most powerful General?" King Melevin said. "Monte Monroe," I said wanting to whisper his name, I hated the feeling building up in my stomach. "Our shadow?" " She seduced our shadow!" "What did you learn about her power?" I listened as they all threw out their questions, "She is still unknown, she was able to bond with two of the most powerful and wild creatures in our world. A dragon and a Fenrir, she is also in tune with earth as an element." I hear King Rivo's generals murmuring. "And you say that Commander Silas has made the girl leave, and she took our shadow and bonded with two creatures that were unbondable until now?" I look to King Regent Marious, one of Queen Asha's mates, who stands with his arms crossed.
"We must find her, General Saint this is your chance to fix your mistake, find her, and bring her here untouched, unharmed, unbonded." I frowned but said nothing to the order other than a small nod. "Don't come back without them or there will be consequences." I meet Queen Asha's eyes and I know at that moment that I can no longer serve this court in good conscience. Her eyes held greed whereas Sabine's eyes held pain, I would make sure she never got her hands on her.
'Nala's Pov'
I wake up to the sound of people laughing and screaming happily. I feel my heart pounding in my chest as I realize I fell asleep in a strange place. Sitting up quickly I take in everything around me, The first thing I see is Ms.Sabine looking at me with concern, her eyes held all of her emotions and It was a much welcome change to the looks of lust I'd get from the men and sometimes women that my master would show me off to. "Are you alright?" I nod and take in the rest of the carriage, the scary-looking man, Monte sat closely behind her petting the animal from before. Prince Oliver was no longer in the carriage. "Oliver went to check on our room, I think he wants to buy me some clothes. I hope we're able to go to that market he was telling me about." She said excitedly, her smile was radiant, I admired her as she turned and asked Monte questions. I couldn't tell what she was but whatever she was, she had power and a lot of it.
"Maybe we could buy you some clothes," She was talking to me but I saw how her eyes darted back to Monte as she spoke. Their connection was so obvious it was hard not to be jealous. He did not rule over her or manipulate her like most men did, she didn't seem like the type to allow something like that. The flap of the carriage opened and the ladies' maid from before came in with another woman. "His Highness has instructed us to bring you all inside and he would like Layla to train the girl as well. He said to ask you Miss if that is what you'd like." I saw how Layla's eyes tracked Ms.Sabine just as Monte's eyes tracked her. Admiration and lust were clear in her eyes when she came before I saw how she glared at me and knew I needed to watch out for her.
"Why don't we ask what she wants? I feel like It should be easy for her to catch on." I looked at Ms.Sabine once more to see her turn to me with a question in her gaze. "I would like to try on my own and If you'd like to have her train me after I would not object," I said, she smiled and nodded before following Monte out of the carriage, The other two maids followed and I went after. The streets were filled with people and markets, the city was decorated with blue and gold ribbons. I recognized the inn immediately, it was famous for having the best food and ale, as well as the best entertainment. When we enter there are many people who greet Ms.Sabine with curious stares and some with greedy eyes. We are shown to a large room, two beds sat on one side of the room while the other had chairs, a bath, and a large mirror that sat next to a large table. "Come come, we need to dress you before we leave. You are the same size as me so you shall borrow my clothes until we can get you new ones." Layla said, she ushered me to another much smaller room and gave me a white dress, standard maid's clothing, before leaving me to dress.
I dress quickly and look in the small mirror that sits on the small table in the corner of the room. The scars on my face healed from the medicine Layla put on it earlier and not my blue skin looked its normal color. I run my hands threw my hair before giving myself a reassuring nod and walking out of the door. She stood in front of the door with her arms crossed but when she saw me she stood straighter. "We need to go, here I hope you can fit my shoes as well because we are going to the night market." I took the pair of shoes and slipped them on, they were a size too big but I didn't mind I was just glad to have shoes on my feet. I followed her back to the other room where Ms.Sabine was sitting in a chair facing the mirror. The first thing I noticed was Prince Oliver kneeling at her feet with his hand in hers and the second was Monte kneeling on the other side of her looking up at her with love in his eyes.
"You don't have to worry about them finding you here, it is not Bessa just a town outside of Bessa. If they do I will get you away from here as fast as I can." Monte said rubbing her shoulders. "I can't describe this feeling but know that I will do whatever I can to bring you the happiness you deserve even If I must take on all of Sulden." Prince Oliver said kissing her hand. The moment I saw her teary-eyed smile in the mirror I made the same vow to myself, anything I can do to bring her happiness I will.
