Chapter 53

Mayank sat on a bench, Little Ivan sleeping on his arm. Abhishek sat beside him, a flirtatious glint in his eye.

"You're amazing with kids, Mayu, you made him sleep in few minutes , he didn't even make fuss."

Abhishek said, his voice low and smooth.

Mayank rolled his eyes, a hint of a smile. Suddenly some thoughts came in his mind , Mayank's ears turned red but he composed himself and he put on a boring expression on his face.

"You think that's enough to convince me to have a child with you?"
Mayank teased.

Abhishek chuckled, his eyes crinkling.

"Oh, I'm just getting started, not a bad idea though. I'll get a small cute version of you ." Abhishek whispered, leaning in.

Mayank's eyes locked onto Abhishek's.

" Abhi ... umm..what are we ?"

Abhi was startled with this sudden serious question.

" Why are you asking this ? Mayu , we are being together , isn't it enough to make you realise what are we to each other?"

Mayank blinked twice followed by a long exhale.

" Still , I want to hear from your mouth ? Cause , we are old enough to get settled in our life. I don't know about you but I'm not now in the age of fooling around with people , I-"

" Mayu , do you think I'm fooling around ? "

Mayank became silent , he tried to read Abhi's gaze.

" Abhi , that's not I said . Okay ... It's just...do you like... No .. love me ?"

Abhi didn't say anything , the playful glint in his eyes dropped.

" I didn't think about it . Mayank, I adore you. I love spending time with you,"

Abhishek replied.

Mayank's eyes narrowed.

"That's not what I asked and where do you see us going ? Abhi , I can't be in a casual situationship anymore . I want commitment."

Abhishek's face turned gloomy. He lowered his head.

"Commitment...it's just...different for me," Abhishek stammered.

Mayank's face fell.

"Different?" Mayank echoed.

Abhishek shifted uncomfortably.

"I don't know if I can promise forever. It's...suffocating. I was never been in a serious relationship. I can't just wrap my mind around this kind of life long commitment things.  Mayank , we are happy with whatever we have. "

Mayank's eyes clouded.

"Suffocating ? Abhi , when you left me without any explanation . I wasn't bothered by that because I also wasn't sure about my feelings . But.... after our reconciliation ...I thought , we could have something more serious between us this time. " Mayank whispered.

Abhishek reached for Mayank's hand.

"Mayu , don't misunderstand. I care deeply for you."

Mayank pulled away.

"Care deeply? That's not enough. Abhi , you know , leave it. I'm going back to brother's house tonight. I need some time."

Mayank turned his face towards other side and sighed.

Abhishek's heart became anxious , his eyes pleaded.

"Mayu , please try to understand... I'm not used to it... I need some time."
