Day 6: Rainy day

*******

Why was she such a failure?

Last time they fought against the Galra, their enemy did quite a number on them. Now, everyone was busy fixing the lions while she spent her day lying in her bed in a daze as she stared at her ceiling.

It was supposed to be an easy mission and she completely ruined it.

What would her mother think...

*******

No one had really said a word unless necessary since they came back from the operation.

The lions were broken and the castle was in bad shape, so they all quickly got to work. No need to choose what everyone was going to do, they all did what they could on their own.

Keith could remember Pidge hurrying out of Green and heading directly to her room. Shiro followed not long after and came back with a defeated look on his face.

"Let's leave her some space for a while, we can fix this ourselves." His eyes refused to meet theirs.

Well, the truth was they couldn't really do it without her. Everyone knew that, at some point, they would need to go ask for her help. She was the one who did the most of the updates on their lions. So even if Coran, Allura and even Hunk had a great understanding of the basics and beyond, the improvements Pidge had added were different from how other systems worked in the lions.

Fortunately, there were still a lot of things they were capable of doing.

She did need to rest and recover, that much was obvious after seeing, even if for a brief tick, how red her eyes had been.

*******

It had already been three days since they decided to hide on this planet and Keith could barely take it anymore. Why was no one saying anything?

Why wasn't he doing anything?

Pidge was clearly in pain. Them not knowing what to tell her wasn't a reason to leave her all alone during this undoubtedly hard time of her life wasn't a good idea at all.

The last one to have seen her face was Shiro that day, the food left in front of her door was always hardly touched and this planet...

The constant rain was so depressing and loud. No way she could get better in this situation.

Pidge and once told him she liked rainy days, they calmed her. But the red paladin really couldn't imagine her finding comfort in it now.

Just what was he doing, how could they all be so stupid? The last thing she currently needed was for no one to show her how much they cared for her well-being.

Right now was a good time, it was getting late, Keith's pretty sure most had already called it a night. So, if his attempt at being a better friend failed, no one could tell him it was a bad idea. Anyway, if it did, he would try again and over again. She needed help, more than she was probably willing to admit. He knew it.

*******

It got worse.

The diner Hunk had left five vargas ago hadn't even been touched. There was no way he was turning back now.

"Pidge, we need to talk." Keith had to make her understand he wasn't leaving until he was sure she was doing somewhat fine. "Let me be there for you."

Not receiving any answer, he tried opening the door only to find it locked. If he wasn't worried enough before, now he certainly was. Did something bad happen?
