Day 8: Free day! (Lipstick)
*******
There were a lot of things Keith liked about Pidge. Her intelligence, sassiness, laugh, smile, eyes, personality and the list went on.
There were also a lot of things that had changed about her since the lions left four years ago. Like the length of her hair, her height and some of her facial features, making her look older and a lot more.
However, one of the things that had changed about her that he really liked was a new habit of hers, wearing lipstick.
At first, it was at formal occasions, then, whenever she just felt like it, which wasn't often, and now, practically all the time. If it wasn't lipstick, then it was lipgloss or a coloured lip-balm.
Always in a shade of red.
The ex-red paladin had never admitted it to her, but there was a thing about this new look that made him even more obsessed and in love with her. It somehow made her look even prettier, Keith didn't know this was possible in the first place.
Oh yeah and also, he absolutely loved when she kissed him while wearing it.
*******
It all started when she first wore it at a party organized by the Garrison not so long after the war ended. People from all over the galaxy were invited to celebrate those who fought so hard and tirelessly. Keith had already realized he liked her more than a friend should a long time ago, but decided it wasn't the right time. However, now, the stakes weren't as high. Only one problem remained.
Did she also feel the same way?
Seeing her arrive in that gorgeous green dress did something to his brain, but seeing her red colored lips broke it.
It was practically the same shade as his lion.
He had never wondered more than at this moment what kissing her would feel like.
He had come close to what he wished for when he found her sitting alone in a hallway.
"Hey Pidge, you okay?" He still recalls how rapidly his heart was beating. "Yeah, I'm just stressed about the speech I'm supposed to give. I know it's silly. I fought and survived an intergalactic war and yet, talking in front of people is making me anxious..."
He sat down next to her on the bench, trying hard not to stare at her lips as he talked. "It's not. Being stressed about things you're not used to doing is normal. I'm sure you'll be amazing up there on stage. I promise I'll be cheering for you from my seat."
She smiled brightly at him. "Thanks! I'll do the same when it's your turn!" She then proceeded to place a soft and quick kiss on his cheek before getting up. "I'll go practice one more time. See you later!"
No words managed to leave his agape mouth as he watched her go, dumbly staring even when she was out of his field of view. Not wanting anyone to find him like that, Keith hurried to the nearest bathroom to calm down his racing heart.
His face was so red, the first mark of many to come she had left was barely visible.
Since then, she has done it on a lot more occasions. Not only to thank him, but to say hi or bye. Keith liked being the only one she did this to.
The ex-red paladin still remembers that chilly fall morning when he woke up in his bed at his dad's old shack that he had spent some time renovating. The night before had been spent drinking while watching horror movies with Pidge on his couch after they ate out with their friends.
