Sathya woke up at 6:00 a.m., feeling nervous and excited for her second day of school. She quickly got ready, brushing her teeth and washing her face. Her mom had already prepared breakfast, and Sathya ate hastily, savoring the taste.
"Mom, I'm leaving," Sathya called out.
Her mom handed her a lunchbox and water bottle. "Have a great day, beta. Don't forget to study."
Sathya nodded and kissed her mom's cheek.
Her dad drove her to school on his scooter, the wind blowing through her hair.
"Be good, Sathya. Focus on studies," he reminded her.
Sathya smiled and waved goodbye as he drove away.
As she walked into school, senior girls whispered among themselves.
"Sidharth's on the football ground."
Sathya's heart skipped a beat; her face blushed. She quickly looked down, adjusting her uniform.
She walked to class, her eyes scanning the room for Arunima.
Arunima smiled as Sathya approached. "Good morning, have a nice day."
Sathya smiled back, feeling relieved. "Good morning."
The bell rang, signaling prayers.
After prayers, Ms. Nair taught math, writing equations on the board.
Sathya whispered to Arunima, "Do you like math?"
Arunima replied softly, "No."
Sathya chuckled. "Me neither."
Neena Nair, the biology teacher, introduced herself.
Sathya asked Arunima, "Do you like biology?"
Arunima replied, "Yes."
Sathya's eyes sparkled. "Me too."
The bell signaled morning interval.
Arunima pulled Sathya outside. "Remember Sidharth from yesterday?"
Sathya's heart fluttered. "How did you know?"
Arunima grinned mischievously. "I'm your best friend."
Arunima asked, "Do you wanna see Sidharth?"
Sathya's eyes darted around before responding, "No."
Arunima raised an eyebrow.
Sathya quickly added, "Maybe he's on the ground."
Arunima chuckled knowingly. "I knew you wanted to see Sidharth."
Sathya's face flushed; she smiled shyly.
Arunima grasped Sathya's hand. "Come on, let's go."
They walked towards the football ground, scanning the area.
As they searched, Sathya whispered, "Do you heard Sidharth's voice? Is it husky or bold?"
Arunima replied, "No, I never heard his voice, but my sister said it's bold and husky."
Sathya's eyes widened. "Really?"
Before they could find Sidharth, a boy overheard their conversation.
"What are you looking for?" he asked.
Startled, Arunima replied, "Nothing."
The boy persisted, "Why are you searching for Sidharth?"
Arunima hesitated.
The boy revealed, "Sidharth's absent today."
Arunima asked his name.
"I'm Arun Nair," he replied.
Arunima's eyes locked onto Arun's.
His black hair, tall frame, and hazelnut eyes captivated her.
Arun urged, "Go to class, kids."
Arunima smiled shyly and left with Sathya.
As they walked back to class, Sathya wondered about Sidharth's whereabouts.
