As I stood in our dorm room, I smiled at the colorful balloons Angeline had hung up for my 21st birthday. The day had been so special. Angeline had surprised me with a small cake decorated with blue icing—perfect for celebrating both my birthday and my son on the way.
"Thank you for everything today, Angie." I said, adjusting my braids in the mirror. "This means a lot to me."
Angeline smiled as she finished up her slice of cake. "Of course! It's your birthday! Plus, you're seeing your man tonight. It's like a double celebration!"
I laughed, but inside, I felt a bit anxious at the thought of Bronny. Earlier, he called me to tell me how excited he was for the game and the surprise he has planned. I felt dizzy at the thought of being at the center of attention. The thought of sitting court side today was already making me very uneasy.
"He's been building up this surprise for a while now. What do you think it'll be?" I asked.
"Whatever it is, I know it'll be great." Angeline said. "Just think about it—you'll be sitting court side, cheering him on, and he's going to do something special for your birthday!"
I nodded, but the thought made my heart race. "I can't believe I'm finally 21. It feels like such a big deal."
"Too bad you're pregnant. We could've been at the club drinking until we passed out." Angeline joked.
"I don't even like clubbing or drinking so that would've never happened." I laughed.
Angeline laughed and held up a pair of sparking earrings. "Let's make you look amazing for the game! You're the star tonight, Soph."
I smiled and took the earrings from her. "Alright, but I want to be comfortable too. I'm going to wear a white, long sleeve shirt to show off my bump, some baggy jeans, and my platform UGG's. I just need to grab my black leather jacket to complete the look."
"Sounds good!" Angeline said, nodding. "You're going to look gorgeous. Bronny will be all smiles when he sees you."
