June 18th

"WE WON!! WE DA CHAMPS, BABY!!" Angeline shouted while popping champagne.

After many stressful weeks and almost losing game 7 to the Miami Heat, the Los Angeles Lakers were this year's NBA champions. I never paid any attention to basketball until these past few weeks and I'll be honest, it's very entertaining to watch. Because game 7 was in Miami, we were forced to celebrate in the comfort of our apartment.

"You're spilling the champagne on the floor, you know?" I said to Angeline.

"Who cares? WE ARE THE NBA CHAMPS!!! Nobody can tell us nothing after today!!" she exclaimed.

I laughed and poured some champagne into my cup.

"So, what happens now?" I asked.

"Now the entire city celebrates! My brother will likely throw a party but I'll let you know."

*RING RING*

"Speaking of my brother, he's calling me right now!"

I got up and went to the kitchen to fix up a snack while she was on the phone congratulating D'Angelo for his win. A couple minutes had passed and Angeline entered the kitchen to grab some paper towels to clean the champagne mess in the living room.

"Do you want the good news or bad news, first?" she asked.

I hate these type of questions. They make me super anxious. Every time I choose the good news first, I'm never satisfied.

"Bad news." I said.

"The bad news is, Dee isn't having a party to celebrate their win." she said.

That wasn't really bad news for me. I don't even like parties, anyways.

"The good news is, LeBron James is hosting a huge party this weekend to celebrate. Dee invited me and he said it's alright with LeBron if I bring a plus one. Do you want to go with me?"

"I'm not sure, Angie. Huge parties make me extremely uncomfortable." I said while taking a bite of my ice cream.

She sat next to me, "Come on, Soph. I just want you to be more social. You haven't gotten an internship yet because you're not social enough."

Okay, that hurt a little but she is right. My shyness and introverted nature is the main reason why I'm struggling to find an internship this summer. If I go outside more and actually meet new people, I might be able to secure one.

"I'm not asking you to get drunk or anything but at least come and socialize with people. I promise the Lakers have one of the coolest people you'll ever meet." she said.

"I don't know..."

"You know, if LeBron is hosting the party, Bronny James will definitely be there."

I looked at her and smiled.

"That man has a girlfriend, remember?" I giggled.

"Oh, you didn't hear?"

"Didn't hear what?" I asked.

"Apparently, Bronny and Taylor broke up recently."

"What?? How did you even find this out?" I asked in confusion.

"Everyone was talking about it. TheShadeRoom and HollywoodUnlocked posted saying that they unfollowed each other on Instagram. Dee also confirmed it to me as well."

"Huh." I said playing with my ice cream. "I wonder why they broke up."

"Who knows and who honestly cares. It's your turn to try to pull Bronny James, now."

I looked at her and let out a loud laugh. "If you seriously think I can pull the son of the greatest basketball player of all time, you are clearly mistaken. I think you have a better chance with him than I do since you have the connections."

"Nah, Bronny is good looking but I don't want him. I think you like him more than I do. You were gushing over him like crazy these past few weeks."

I blushed. "Was I really?"

"I can help you get to Bronny, if that's what you really want."

Do I want that? I'm not even sure if I'm actually in love with Bronny or if this is just a silly little crush that's going to fade away soon. As much as I love the idea of dating him, I highly doubt it will ever happen. He is the son of a billionaire, while I'm a struggling college student on a full ride scholarship. His ex girlfriend is the daughter of a damn-near billionaire herself. The media loves them together. I couldn't imagine how the media would bash me if I ever dated Bronny. They would probably call me a gold digger.

"I don't want Bronny." I chuckled. "This is just a crush that will wear off very soon. I'll go to the party with you but you don't need to set me up with him."

"Okay, if you say so."
