Sophia's POV

"Angie, can you help me bring this last box to the car?" I asked.

"Of course, silly. That's why I'm here."

It was officially the last day of school at the University of Southern California (USC) and I had just finished my finals which, not to brag, but I know I aced. We were cleaning out our sophomore dorms and bringing them back to Angeline's car.

"Finally! We can go and be outside all summer!" Angeline shouted in excitement.

I climbed in her car, "You're gonna be outside all summer. I'm going to be at the library all summer catching up on my favorite novel."

Angeline looked at me in disgust, "Soph, you know it's called summer vacation for a reason, right? That means it's time to take a break on the books for a while."

She's right. I should be taking a break from books but this is just who I am. I love reading, I love writing. It's like I'm addicted to it. That's why I chose to major in political science with the hopes that I can become a lawyer someday.

"We need to get you outside more this summer." she said. "You know it's currently the NBA playoffs and my brother is playing against the Nuggets tomorrow at Crypto.com Arena? We should go!"

Oh right, I forgot to mention. Angeline is D'Angelo Russell's youngest sister.

Yes, THE D'Angelo Russell. Sometimes I can't believe that my best friend's brother is a professional basketball player.

"Eh, I don't know if I wanna go. I'll be busy tomorrow."

"Doing what?" she asked. "Reading books?"

"No, looking for an internship this summer." I said.

"We are definitely going, Sophia. This will be the first step to getting you outside. Plus who knows, maybe you can network with people there to find an internship."

Angeline's right. The playoffs attract lots of different people yearly and it would be a great place to network, especially since I've been struggling to find an internship for months in this sh*tty job market.

"Fineeee." I groaned. I faced the window and enjoyed the rest of the ride back home.

THE NEXT EVENING...

I was sitting at my computer desk scrolling through LinkedIn, Handshake, and Indeed trying to search for an internship.

"Legal Intern? Nah, that's all the way in New York City."

"Paralegal? Nah, I need 2+ years of experience."

Nobody ever tells you that finding an internship would be harder than the actual college classes.

*KNOCK KNOCK*

"Sophia, get dressed! We're leaving in 30 minutes." I heard Angeline call out from outside my door. I didn't even want to go to this stupid game but I'm only going to hopefully network with people.
