November 9th
7:00 PMSophia's POV:
Two weeks have passed and Angeline and I were relaxing in our dorm room after finishing the last of our weekly assignments. My 21st birthday was in two days and I wanted to get everything out the way so I can enjoy my birthday week in peace. The lights in our room were off, with the exception of our fairy string lights in the window, and we had our mini projector set up casting the Lakers vs. 76ers game on the wall. We had chips, popcorn, and cookies spread around us, and the vibes were perfect for a cozy night in.
I leaned back against the bed, stretching out my legs. "Finally, we're free from those papers." I said, letting out a sign of relief. "I thought I was going to lose my mind over that last one."
Angeline laughed, biting into her Oreo cookie. "Girl, same. I swear these professors think we're robots."
We both turned our attention to the game, watching Bronny move across the court. He looked focused, like he always did when he played, and I couldn't help but admire him. He made a three point shot, and the crowd's energy erupted through the arena.
"There's your man!" Angeline teased, nudging me playfully.
I blushed instantly, feeling warmth spread throughout my face. "Stop it." I laughed, rolling my eyes.
"Look at you, blushing and smiling" Angeline teased again, grinning wide. "You're so whipped."
I giggled, shaking my head, but I couldn't deny it. "I mean, look at him. He's on fire tonight."
"He better be. He got a baby boy on the way!" Angeline said, beaming. "I'm still a little sad, though. I really wanted to buy all the cute little dresses and bows."
"I know! You wanted a girl so bad." I teased.
"Okay yeah, but a boy is just as good. I'm actually really excited! Think about it—a little LeBron Raymone James III running around, being all cute. I'm going to spoil him so much."
I chuckled. Bronny and I have already talked about names and we decided that we're definitely not naming him LeBron James III.
My smile grew as I rubbed my growing belly. I felt a wave of happiness wash over me. "I'm so glad you're excited. I can already see you trying to make him your little buddy."
"Oh, for sure!" she said, laughing. "I'm just happy you're having a healthy baby. My nephew is going to be loved like crazy."
I couldn't agree more. Everything felt more real as I watched Bronny on the screen, thinking about how our lives were changing. It wasn't just about us anymore. There was a whole future waiting for our baby boy.
"So, birthday girl, have you and Bronny figured out all the party details yet?" Angeline asked, changing the subject as she grabbed a handful of popcorn.
I nodded, feeling excitement inside of me. "Yeah, we've been planning everything for the last few weeks. I can't believe it's in two days!"
"Your 21st birthday. That's a huge milestone, girly!" Angeline said, smiling at me. "I hope you're ready for the best night of your life."
I laughed, feeling a mix of excitement and nerves. "I just want to have fun and not think about school for a while. This semester has been so much, and I need a break."
"Well, you're about to get it. Bronny's been hyping up the party, and I know he's going all out for you." she said, winking.
I blushed, thinking about how much effort Bronny had put into planning the whole thing. "He's been really sweet. He even mentioned having a surprise for me, which had me curious and nervous at the same time."
"Oooh, a surprise?" Angeline said, raising an eyebrow. "I bet it's something good. I mean, it is Bronny James, after all."
I smiled, feeling butterflies in my stomach just thinking about it. "Yeah, but knowing him, it'll probably be something amazing."
As we continued watching the game, Bronny made another perfect shot, and the crown roared. Angeline nudged me again. "There he goes, your man's out there doing this thing. He's scoring more points than my brother, I fear."
I couldn't help but laugh, my heart filled with joy. "Yeah, he's killing it tonight!"
My smile widened, feeling grateful to have Angeline by my side. As much as things had been overwhelming, I had her support—and Bronny's. Watching him now, playing with such intensity, made me appreciate him even more. He wasn't just out there as an NBA player; he was the father of my child, and he was stepping up.
As Bronny made yet another shot, I couldn't stop smiling. Everything just felt... right.
