the air seemed to be more suffocating now that it was finally the day of the event. you were restless the whole day, zoning out and overthinking.
you were so worried and stressed out that your teacher agreed on sending you down to the counselors office and skip the rest of your classes until you relaxed.
"you need to relax, 'mkay?" mr.mackey spoke to you, pushing his glasses up his nose bridge. you sighed and nodded, embarrassed from having to leave during class.
your feet was bouncing up and down repeatedly and you were chewing on your nail. you tried your best to distract yourself by looking around the room, but it all reminded you of the upcoming event. there were so many posters in his room.
mr.mackey sighed at the sight of you being so anxious. "you need to stop being so nervous, 'mkay? would you like it if i call down a friend to help with this.. situation?" he eyed you up and down as if he was judging you. for some reason, that made you feel worser.
"y–yeah. that would be great." you muttered, repeatedly blinking back the rising tears. "could you call down heidi turner?" you pulled down your sleeves as he spoke to her teacher on the phone, and continuously bobbed your feet up and down.
"you need to stop doing that. it's distracting me, 'mkay. try to distract yourself." mr.mackey said to you in a scolding tone.
your cheeks flushed and you placed a hand on your shaky thigh, "sorry." you mumbled, breaking the eye contact.
soon enough, the door creaked open, and heidi's face popped up, causing you to relax your shoulder at the familiar face.
the brunette hadn't noticed you yet, facing mr.mackey instead. "mr.mackey? what did you call me down for?" she asked with a confused pout on her face.
mr.mackey pushed back his glasses and didn't bother glancing at heidi, busily typing away on the computer as if he was actually working..
"alright, well. 'mkay.." he mumbled under his breath before finally lifting his head, "thanks for coming here, heidi. well, you see, your friend here, [y/n] [l/n], has been having a hard time focusing in class and was sent here, 'mkay? she had requested for me to call you down here." he pointed at you, making heidi turn to where he pointed and you were sitting there, fiddling with your sleeves.
