I was sleeping when I heard someone waking me up.

"Inaya, Inaya beta jaldi utho. Hadi ka accident hogaya hai."

(Inaya, Inaya beta, wake up. Hadi got into an accident.)

I jolted awake from my sleep. And saw mamma crying in front of me.

"Kya kaha apne? Y-yeh nahi ho sakta. N-nahi. Mamma apko kisne bataya." I was in a denial. Tears slipped from my eyes. Hadi met with an accident? My Hadi? No this cannot happen.

(What did you say? This can't happen. No. Mamma who told you this?)

"Mujhe Arshad ki call aayi thi. Vo Hadi ko hospital le gaya hain. Hame chalna hoga jaldi."

(Arshad called me. He took Hadi to the hospital. We have to go now.)

As soon as we reached hospital, I saw Arshad standing in front of the operation theater.

"Kya hua? H-hadi ko kya hua?"

(What happened? What happened to Hadi?)

He did not reply to me.

"MAINE PUCHA MERE HADI KO KYA HUA?"

( I ASKED WHAT HAPPENED TO MY HADI?)

"B-bhabhi, mujhe uski call aayi thi. Vo bahot ghusse me tha. Keh raha tha ki use race karna hai aur theek uss baad car crash ki awaz ayi. Aur Mai use le aaya yaha. Bahot Bure Haal me tha jab use Mai yaha laaya."

(S-sister-in-law, he called me. He was very angry. He said that he wanted to race and just after that the car crashed. And I took him here. He was in a detoriated state when I bought him here.)

He said while everyone started crying.

"N-nahi. N-nahi yeh nahi ho sakta. Hadi m-mere wajh se i-iss Haal mein hain." I muttered the words and fell to the ground.

(N-no. N-no thus can't happen. Hadi I'd i-in this state b-because of m-me.)

"K-kya bol rahi ho tum beta? H-hadi tumari wajh se aise haal mein? Kaise?" Mamma asked.

(W-what are you saying beta? H-hadi is in this state because of you? How?)

"Unke a-accident se pehle hamari ladayi hui thi a-aur vo mujhse n-naraz hokar B-bahar Chale Gaye the. Sab meri galti hai."

(Before his accident we had and argument and he got angry and went out. Everything my fault.)

"A-ap aisa kaise Kar sakti hain? Mera baccha apki wajh se is haal me hain?" She shouted at me while making me stand.

(H-how could you do this? My child is in this state because of you?)

"Ammi, control karein bhabhi ki koi galti nai hai." Noor tried to make her understand.

(Mom, control yourself. This is not her fault.)

I can understand what's she's going through. She's his mother after all. I don't blame her.

"Kya control karu Main ha? Tum sabko dikh nahi raha yaha iss ladki ke wajh se Mera beta iss haal Me hai?"

(What should I control huh? Can't you all see that because of this girl my child is in this state.)

I couldn't face her. I couldn't look at her face. Tears started flowing out of my eyes continuously.

"I'm sorry." I said.

Noor tried to calm her down. Hania was trying to console Mujtaba. Everyone were waiting for the doctor to come out.

Soon the operation theater opened and the doctor came.

"K-kya hua? Kaisa hai Mera beta?" Mamma asked.

(W-what happened? How's my son?"

"Unhe sever brain injury hui hain. Vo abhi coma me hain."

(He has severe brain injury. He's in coma.)

The ground slipped away from my feet. How can he leave me? How can he break his promises?

No one could hold back their tears. Everyone including Arshad started crying.

After a few hours of staying there and crying ammi said "yaha sab ka rukna theek nahi hain. Abhi ke liye sahab aur ayesha bhabhi aur Noor aur haniya ko le jayiye. Mujtaba tum yaha ruk jao Mai Inaya ko ghar le jaati hu."

(It's not right fir everyone to stay here. For now big brother and Ayesha, Noor and Hania should go home. Mujtaba, you stay here, I'll take Inaya home.)

"Main nahi aa rahi. Main yahi rukungi."

(I'm not coming. I'll stay here.)

"Inaya beta zid mat karo. Tum bahot thak gayi hogi chalo."

(Inaya don't be adamant. You might be tired, come on.)

"Maine kaha na Mai nahi aungi. Mai Hadi ko chod Kar kahin nahi jaungi."

(I said that I won't come. I'll not go anywhere without Hadi.)

"Mujtaba tum yahi ruk jao. Inaya ke sath."

(Mujtaba you wait here. With Inaya.)

"Jee chachi."

(Okay chachi.)

Soon everyone left except for Arshad and Mujtaba.

"Bhabhi apke liye kuch Lau? Apne raat ka khana nahi khaya hoga na."

(Sister-in-law, should I get you something? You might have not eaten your dinner, right?)

"Nahi Mujtaba. Mujhe bhuk nahi hai." I said while sitting on the chair of waiting area.

(No Mujtaba. I'm not hungry.)

"Patient ko room me shift kardiya hai. Koi ek jaa sakta hai."

(The patient has been shifted to the room. Any one person can go in.)

For clarification 'ammi' is Inaya's mother and 'mamma' is Hadi's mother.
