The night sky varied in tones of blues as the wind brushed past his face. The moon shined brightly across the clouds rolling below them. It would have given Vax a sense of peace if he wasn't about to infiltrate the lair of the Cinder King. Vex looked back at her brother giving him a quick nod letting him know they had reached the drop point. Vax took a steady breath, calming himself for the task, before falling backward off the broom. Like a drop of rain, he gracefully dove through the layer of clouds. For a moment, his vision was surrounded by gray before he broke through. Hues of red and orange burned brightly at the site of once stood the palace of the city of Emon. Now, rivers of lava poured from the center where Thordak had claimed his new kingdom.

As he approached the very center, Vax commanded the wings of the Deathwalker's Ward to take flight. His armor glowed as the wings formed in the back. He flapped his wings, gliding just above the lava glancing around him. He flew through an opening in the rocks, quickly seeing Thordak in the distance. Vax collapsed the wings back into the armor, slipping behind a rock.

"Tal'Dorei's kingdoms lay broken at my feet, yet my conclave continues to fail me," Thordak growled at the white dragon before him. Vax carefully peaked over the side of the rock seeing the large body of Thorak towering over Vorugal who hastly bowed in front of him.

"Send me, my king. I will dispatch those that threaten you."

"You have your talents. But with Umbrasyl fallen, Raishan's mission is more crucial than ever."

As if the dragons had a sixth sense, they both turned in the direction where Vax was. While Vax was quick, the dragons had their suspicions as Vorgul sniffed the air.

"We are not alone." Vorgul roared, diving for the rock easily crushing it under his weight. To his disappointment, nothing was behind the rock but he saw the slightest marks in the ground where something had stood. "Something was here," he snarled.

Vax, safely, behind another rock peered over as the dragon continued to investigate. He was not one to stick around to see if he would find him. Plus, he wasn't here to fight the dragons. He zoomed off in the opposite directions, kicking dirt in the air with his speed. He sped to a halt as he reached the ledge looking down over a cavern.

"What?"

Vax trailed his eyes following the lava pouring down to the bottom of the cavern. His eyes sunk as he saw littering the bottom with what looked like from his distance tiny, golden speck. He knew that in reality, however, the ground was covered in large, fiery, eggs. Dragon eggs.

"Oh, gods."

"Yes." Vax turned around as Thordak landed behind shaking the ground from his weight. "My children soon will be gods."

Vax immediately sprinted away as the dragon roared beginning to chase. Vax leaped to another portion of the rocks, running for take off as Thordak flew behind him unleashing another thunderous roar. The armor's wings manifested as Vax kicked off the ground, soaring in the air as the dragon chomped the air where he was the moment before. Thordak reared his head back, fire ascending upwards and glowing throughout his neck. The dragon unleashed a wave of fire at Vax who flew through an opening in the rocks. He pushed through the opening, not before he felt a searing pain on his wings from the flames narrowly engulfing his entire form. He fell down to the ground with a yelp but recovered hastily as the dragon toured through the opening. Vax ran as fast as he ever had in his life as Thordak breathed fire through the corridor. Vax panted as he felt the heat on his back running towards the end. With a last-ditch leap, he fell through the other side as flames pulsed out. Vax's wings sprouted again as he glided over the lava.
