Third person's pov
Layers of snow enveloped the ground and the leaves were covered with mist. The atmosphere was chilly as it's already late December, the coldest time of the winter.
All the houses are decorated with shiny giant stars and bells celebrating Christmas with their own loved ones. Random snowmans are standing made by goofy children and snowballs are thrown at each other with gigglings and laughings by little little kids.
Mia takes in the view and smiles cheekily glancing at the happiness around her. She loves festivals although she has never once celebrated them. But she believed that just because she's deprived from celebrating doesn't mean she can't admire other's. So she just walks around wrapping herself with a woollen soft sweater, scarf and a leather overcoat. She gives chocolates to random kids, wishing them a ‘A Merry Christmas’. The toothy and bubbly giggles and happiness of the kids gives her happiness the same as the people who’re celebrating with cakes and wines inside their homes. It's her way of celebrating.
She looks down, rubbing her palms to create warmth between them before shoving them inside her pockets, smiling giddily because this time she's not walking the roads randomly like every other Christmas. Yes, she gave chocolates to children and it did give her happiness but she's more excited because she has plans this time. She has someone to celebrate with her this time.
She waits for the signal to turn red so she can cross the road and smiles again when she sees a tall guy standing near his bike. She crosses the road and taps on the guy's shoulders. He looks back with a confused frown but it's instantly replaced with a warm smile… much needed on the cold Christmas night.
Kevin just arrived at the restaurant and was about to check the time from his phone when he felt the tap on his shoulder. Kevin wonders how could someone's eyes hold all the beautiful stars in the world always? Even the endless sky fails to hold the stars always because of the interruption of clouds. Mia's eyes sparkle in the dark alley. Her face glowed in the faint moonlight, a pink hue covering her spongy cheeks because of the cold and her wide grin as if she just won a lottery. Her lower face was covered with the scarf, and her petite figure seemed chubby because of the layers of clothing.
Now in Mia's case, she never denied the fact that Kevin's handsome. One of the most handsome guy she has ever seen. He had a broad forehead which was covered with his messy hair, foxy blue eyes that reflected the moonlight perfectly, long eyelashes, chiselled jawline and a long nose. And the best thing that Mia liked is the way Kevin's eyes change the moment his orbs are laid upon her. He instantly changes from intimidating mode to a warm one. As if that look is only reserved for her. His height is tall, despite Mia's height being average for girls, Kevin seemed taller than her. He was almost two heads longer than her. If she leans more she could hear his heartbeat without even bending. Kevin was wearing an overcoat reaching below his thighs above a turtleneck sweater.
They both stared at each other with a strangely comfortable silence. There was nothing uncomfortable between them anymore and they could sense it.
Maybe it was nothing uncomfortable between them from the start as if they were tied with a red string of fate because they behaved different to each other.
A bunch of screams shifted their attention. And they laughed when they saw a group of children having a racing challenge, maybe of who'll reach home first. Kevin gestured to Mia to get into the restaurant as it's really cold outside. The reception lady took them to their seats as the table was already booked. The restaurant had a cosy atmosphere. Families, couples, and friends were enjoying themselves at their own tables. Mia stared at the back of Kevin wondering what were they?
Unaware of the fact that Kevin wants her as all of them as his family, friend and partner.
Kevin pulled out a chair for Mia before sitting in his own seat. Mia took off her scarf and overcoat and hung it on the chair leaving her on only a strawberry red sweater and blue bell bottoms. She looked at Kevin who was examining the menu.
