Third person's pov

Mia Avery

Sweet, gentle, pretty for others but savage, sassy, confident with the people who are close to her.

Back then she had a friend, a good friend, they were each other's best friend... At least from Mia's side.

Evelyn

Both girls were friends for almost two years when they were high school students but later it turned out that Evelyn befriended Mia just because she was pretty and smart which gave her attention from others, precisely from guys.

Guys used to talk to her so that she could convince Mia to give them a chance but did she ever talk about it to Mia.

Of course No.

She just talks to them and makes up dramatic stuff against Mia so eventually Mia started having bad impression around her classmates and she often wondered what wrong did she even do to people who hate her, but the poor girl was oblivious of the fact that her own best friend was the culprit.

Lies don't have long life… so she came to know the truth. But what gave her pain was not the fact that everyone hates her because of her so-called best friend neither that she lost so many proposals… It was nothing like that. It was the fact that her own best friend who she considered as her sister never actually considered her the same. She was envious of her all along. It was all an, act.

Yeah, act.

A thing Mia hated… hated from the bottom of her heart. She would rather love the person who straightforwardly confronts her instead of the person who puts on an act of loving her when deep inside he/she hates her.

She observed people… observed means observing like crazy. From the movement of their eyeballs to the fidgeting of toes. She observed every single detail of a person from just one look. She acquired this personality after suffering from many betrayals and cheatings. Now she doesn't trust a single person excluding the people who passed her verification test and that included only a few people.

Shiny things are generally fake so she concluded that the people who seem bright and chirpy are the ones who possess fangs inside their mouth.

So she prefers to stay away from those. Now that she is about to graduate, she has two friends only.

Only?

No, they are more than enough for them. Even one would have been fine but she considers herself lucky that she got two of them. Jules and Kiara.

Friendship never seemed so enjoyable and fun before but with them she realised that all the friendships she had earlier were a mere time pass. But these two girls, Mia felt delighted....with whom she can be herself.

She's a fashion design student and her goal was to design her own fashion in a reasonable way that commoners could afford it too. Yeah commoners.

Don't they deserve a brand that they could afford and brag about? So it was her vision. It was not clear that how would she do it or will the idea would be a hit or flop but it's something she wanted to give a chance.

She encountered Kevin's profile randomly while scrolling lazily but his art made her eyes widened. It was not like the sketches were so wonderful or something… it was nice in fact great but it could be sketched by any sketch artist. It seemed common yet was sketched with talented fingers.

But Mia's observation skills sensed something. A feeling that she suffered once but the sketch artist didn't come out of it like Mia did.

She sensed-

Sadness, immense sadness, hidden sadness.

Some of the lines from the old posts were rough as if drawn in a hurry, perhaps to get rid of the pain or to forget it for a while.

Some had very smooth lines as if the person is intentionally giving more details than necessary because he wants to delay the sketching process. As if he has nothing to do anyway.

Some had very nice accuracy as if he saw the inspiration and drew it happily because he loved the view.

And now the last one, which gave a sensation of loneliness… mistaken as solitude.

A shadow amidst chaos.

Mia assumed that the shadow is the sketch artist and the chaos is the chaotic world which doesn't give a damn who's upset, who's dead, who's just born. World is always busy with its own schedule.

Mia couldn't resist the urge to reach out to the person. She had a strange urge to pull the person out of the tangled mess he is in. She wanted to be the candle…. Or maybe just a firefly in the person's life which had a short lifespan still gave the experience of brightness.

And she reached out to him despised as a crazy fan. She loved the art… she really did but she wanted the art to reflect happiness and brightness. She wanted to become the person for the sketch artist that she once wanted for herself.

But it turned out that the sketch artist, beautifully named Kevin… gave her some life advice.

“Everyone has their own struggles, their own problems... No one has time or ability to figure out abt your feelings. They've got their own life, no one will bother to think about if your smile is real or fake.”

“Harsh but it's the truth, Ms. Mia. If you would observe around you... You'll see no one has got a real smile. Everyone is either pretending to be okay or they are ignoring their hustles.”

“So just focus on yourself, make yourself feel better by doing things that you like to do instead of expecting others to ease your loneliness.”

Mia liked it to meet a person alike. And the words were indeed true.

It was clear that Kevin was experienced with the feeling of loneliness. But still Mia wanted to be the person with whom Kevin can be comfortable with. A person with whom Kevin can be himself not a lonely and sad soul hidden behind a ‘I don't give a fuck’ facade.
