Third person's pov

Living

People we often see around us are not living.

Yeah.

Because some of them are not living, they are simply existing. As living involves happiness, laughing, enjoying. Leaving home without having breakfast then attending lectures mindlessly... eating anything that's available in the canteen, skipping lunch, scribbling a random sketch and then sleeping after having instant noodles doesn't consider living.

Talking to no one, having meals alone, no one to listen to, no one to laugh with.

Was it living?

Who can even live like that? Well Kevin did.

All above scenarios were in Mia's life too. Even though she didn't have a family, they passed away in an accident when she was five. She was raised by her very supportive uncle and aunt. But they never really tried to fill the void of a parental role in Mia's life. Not that she ever complained, taking care of her expenses were more than enough for her.

But she made herself confident and got out of the black hole of loneliness by getting out of her comfort zone and opening up to people who seemed to care for her.

That's what made the difference between the two.

Kevin feels hella nervous because it's the weekend the next day. The day when they'll meet.

If it was any other situation Kevin would reject but he surprisingly agreed to meet up because he wanted to meet the instagram girl who took away his sanity in the first talk.

Or maybe she started to bring sanity into his life?

Well she took away the last bit of sanity by uploading that post. Kevin was just scrolling when this photo showed up on his feed. First he was confused because all his feed shows are random things related to art and of some of his friends or classmates pictures when they post of course. And his friends, including only guys.

Yeah Mia is the first girl in his following list and he thinks she would be the last.

Mia seemed like a smart and beautiful girl to him but her post gave chills down to Kevin's spine. She looked like that badass girl who doesn't give a damn to anyone. He gawked at the photo for almost five minutes like a pervert. And then he finally liked the picture and then he pressed the comment section with his thumb. Not that he was about to comment.. he was too introvert for that. And he couldn't muster up all his thoughts either to comment on.

It was a curiosity.

And he was met with a lot of comments which were mostly from guys. It was obvious that Mia is a popular girl and surely she is very beautiful. Although the post didn't show her face but her body figure and the comment section screamed that she was very beautiful.

And Kevin finds himself crazy because he checked each and every guy's profile to check them. All were rich and handsome... and unconsciously he found himself comparing himself with the others.

And he didn't even know why.

Did he?

To just gain the said girl's attention he commented too. And after a while he let out a contented sigh when his phone rang, indicating a message. And he grinned like a teenage boy when he saw the sender.

"Hey Mr. Handsome."

Kevin's heart fluttered by the nickname. And when he came to know Mia already saw his face, he panicked. What if Mia doesn't find him attractive. He felt insecure. Of course he will, as she is surrounded by handsome hot guys experienced with dating stuff... flirt smoothly. And here he is who didn't even have a proper crush ever in his life.

And the insecurity was replaced by the sudden urge of jealousy again when he came to know that Jacob was the one who showed her the picture... means they met, alone.

Knowing Jacob's feelings towards Mia made him more insecure. Jacob's frequent comments in Mia's post... his compliment on her looks which Kevin was unable to do and Mia calling Jacob as Jake.

And then again the jealousy feeling was replaced with a warm feeling.

"Ur eyes are beautiful Kevin... Really. They seem to convey everything that ur words can't."

Feelings after feelings.... Emotions after emotions.... Mia somehow unknowingly managed to make Kevin feel immensely overwhelmed.

Of all the things Mia complimented his eyes? Kevin grabbed a pocket mirror from his bedside drawer and stared at her eyes... What do his orbs have in particular that caught Mia's attention?

"Like in the pic, it seemed like u were irritated by Jake coz u wanted to be alone."

And the next emotion is bewilderment. Yeah... he was bewildered, how could someone read him so thoroughly?

"How was ur day? Tell me everything."

Was he waiting for this message all day so that he could spit it all? It seems so because the next emotion he felt was excitement.

And he did that... he talked about the new painting he started and he was waiting to tell her about it, strange...

"It seemed genuine but incomplete."

Next emotion he felt was surprise.

"I meant that I feel like u want to say many things to me abt my look but u probably don't have enough words or u don't know how to put it in front of me.

Maybe u can't bring urself to compliment me like ur heart wants... So it's incomplete."

By this Kevin thought of two scenarios. First, that he was so predictable and easy to read. Second, Mia is intentionally observing him. And it turned out that both scenarios were correct.

"Maybe god sent me for u cause I really feel like u need someone Kevin."

"Now don't deny that u r happy alone bcoz I know u r not. That's why I want us to be friends."

And Kevin's mouth went ajar by this.

"I'll be always beside u as a well wisher and friend.Kevin, I promise."

Maybe this was all that Kevin always needed. The message gave reassurance to Kevin that he never knew he needed it. To have someone by his side... a promise to stay.

And then he couldn't resist himself to blurt out all the compliments he summed up for the call. And he was still not convinced that the message did justice to his feelings.

It was like words couldn't sum up his feelings... it was much more, deep.

Kevin nervously wore a white buttoned shirt and tucked the hem of it inside his cargo pants and finished the look by wearing a leather jacket.

He ruffled his dark raven locks with his fingers and then combed them to give a neat messy look.

He stared in front of the mirror and sighed for the nth time that day because it's the day... the day of the meet up. And it's special for him.

He then took a deep breath before wearing his shoes and opening his door. He exhaled soundly before locking his door and instinctively pulled the door to check if it's really locked.

He walked to the parking lot and shoved the key and wore his helmet. He sighed once again before leaving the parking lot riding on his bike.
