It had been two days since the Halloween dance and Miguel had gotten into a fight with Kyler. His mother banned him from doing karate and will no longer allow him near Johnny. So since Miguel isn't allowed to do karate, that stopped Johnny and Cobra Kai completely, and Amara hadn't been to the dojo since.

She walked over to Miguel’s apartment and knocked on the door. His grandma opened the door. “Hey, My name's Amara. I’m from apartment 106. Miguel and I are friends.”

“Come on in.” She said, as she let Amara in. She saw Miguel laying on the couch.

“Hey.” Amara greeted Miguel, sitting down across from him in the chair. “How are you?”

“Not so good. My ribs are bruised, my whole head hurts. I'm just sore.” Miguel said.

“Here.” Ms Diaz said walking into the living room with a pack of ice for Miguel and an orange juice. “Hold this ice on your ribs.”

“Oh, thanks.” Miguel said, sighing.

Carmen looked over at Amara. “Amara, right?” She asked.

Amara nodded. “Yes, ma’am.”

“It's nice to finally meet you. I'm glad you and Miguel are friends and he has someone.” She said to her. “Miggy, why don't you tell me who did this?” She asked Miguel. “I'll call the school. They can protect you.”

“It will only make things worse, Mama.” Miguel said to his mother.

“Worse than this?”

“Yes.” Miguel told her. “If I just had more lessons, then maybe I'll-”

“No!” Carmen interrupted him.

“It's not Sensei Lawrence’s fault. Is it, Amara?” Miguel said, trying to drag Amara into this. “I just… I just wasn't ready.”

“No.” Carmen had her foot down. “No more karate.”

Miguel’s grandma walked over to the back side of the couch. “Carmen, ¿cuál es el problema aquí?” She asked. “Encontró algo que le gusta hacer.”

“Thank you.” Miguel said in English.

“Miralo.”

“¡Lo veo!”

Amara looked at Miguel. “I think I came at a bad time.”

“No, please stay.” Miguel begged her.

“Lo que necesita es práctica, ¿verdad?” Miguel’s grandma asked as she held fists up at her face. “¡Mantén las manos en alto, protege tu cabeza!”

“Mamá,” Carmen spoke, “este hombre es una mala influencia.”

“He is not. You don't know him.” Miguel snapped.

“I know he's a loser.” Carmen fought.

“He is not a loser. If you knew him, you'd see he's a great man.” Miguel got up and stormed out of the apartment.

Amara watched as Miguel left. “Listen, Ms Diaz, Johnny Lawrence was the biggest jerk in Reseda when I first moved here but I promise you, he is a good man.” She said to Carmen. “If you let Miguel do karate again, I can assure you he will not get hurt.”

“No!” Carmen yelled. “I said no more karate and that's what I mean.”

Amara looked out the window and saw Miguel outside talking to Johnny. “Tiene mi palabra, señora Díaz.” Amara spoke as she walked out of the apartment and over to Miguel and Johnny.

“Sorry, kid.” Johnny said to Miguel as Amara walked over. “I gotta go.” He got into his car and drove off.

“What was that about?” Amara asked.
