M e h r b a n o
I always thought that I know the feeling, that constrict our hearts so badly that we feel we are breathing our last breaths but I was wrong.
I had never experienced that feeling till now.
When my eyes saw him lying on the road lifelessly drenched in his own blood, I felt there was no oxygen around me, my heart constricted in my chest so badly that I thought it was the end of me.
"No. No!!!" I screamed like a mad woman.
His head was bleeding, the road under his head was all covered with his blood which wasn't stopping. His eyes were closed and his body unresponsive.
"Ehan!" I shook him with my trembling hands.
But there was no response.
Was he gone?
"I didn't hit him. He jumped in front of the car. I tried my best to pull the brakes" That man was still trying to defend himself to people. He was equally panicked.
"I saw the man jumping in front of the car. You didn't do anything" An old man was trying to calm that panicked man.
There were numerous voices in the background. Men muttering to each other but my mind couldn't process them anymore.
I was busy shaking his body so that he wakes up from this miserable condition. I wanted to save him from every pain.
I cannot even think of the pain he went through.
"E-Ehan" My voice was broken.
"Please wake up" I cried like a child.
I wanted to hurt him but not like that not that brutally. I just wanted him to feel the pain I have felt before but now watching him in this horrible condition made me realize I never hated this man even after trying so hard.
He didn't deserve that.
My mind hated him but my heart never. I had unconditional love for him in my heart. It didn't die.
"Ehan please wake up" I grabbed his shirt and started sobbing badly.
My hands covered with blood that once circulated in his body, now oozing out of his wounds.
I don't want him to die. I don't want him to suffer anymore. I don't want to say goodbye to him, not like that.
"Shut up now" Another man shouted at the panicked man.
"Put him in the car" He screamed at the men.
"Please move away" A man grabbed my shoulders and pulled me away from his body so that they could easily carry him to the car that hit him.
"Mehrbano" Zaydan sat on his knees beside me on the road.
I looked up at him, my face covered with tears and my hands with the blood of the man I loved.
In front of my eyes people carried Ehan to the car. My gaze was fixed at them and I couldn't believe what just happened in the past one minute.
