The Lovers to the Rescue
No one's POV
Chaos.
That's what greeted Lorraine, Jezreel, and her mother as they approached the abandoned hospital.
The air around the place felt heavy with death, a silent but grim warning of the horrors within.
Bodies lay scattered outside like grotesque decorations, lifeless and cold, while the sharp crack of gunfire echoed from deep inside the building.
It was as if the hospital had become the stage for a nightmare, its once sterile halls now corrupted by blood and violence.
Fear gripped Lorraine's heart with an intensity she hadn't felt before.
She had heard gunfire in the past, perhaps on the news or in distant memories, but nothing could prepare her for the sight of so many dead-bodies littered across the ground, crumpled like discarded paper.
As she parked near a white van, she couldn't help but glance at Jezreel and her mother. They were calm-eerily so.
There was no trembling in their hands, no visible hesitation in their eyes. They exited the car with an unsettling composure, motioning for Lorraine to follow.
Her legs were weak, trembling with the weight of fear, but Lorraine forced herself out of the car.
The gunfire was louder now, each shot ringing in her ears, amplifying the dread twisting in her chest.
She winced, instinctively flinching with every echo of the gunshots. The fear was almost paralyzing.
"They're still inside, but we've only got five minutes! Come on, we need to get in now!" Jezreel's voice cut through the tension, sharp and urgent.
She shrugged off her mother's hand and rushed forward, her steps purposeful and unafraid.
Jamaica and Lorraine were just about to follow her when a horrifying sight froze them in place-a man fell from the upper floors of the building.
His body hit the ground directly in front of Jezreel with a sickening, bone-crushing sound, causing her to halt abruptly.
It was as if time itself had paused for a second.
The man had fallen without any warning, like a raindrop plummeting from the sky, unexpected and deadly.
His body lay there, motionless, his limbs splayed unnaturally, and the sight of it sent a chill through Lorraine's veins.
The three women were stunned, their breath catching in their throats. Jezreel looked up, and the others followed her gaze.
From where the man had fallen, they spotted a figure-a woman standing on the edge of the building.
"Samantha?" Jezreel whispered, her voice barely audible.
From their vantage point, they could see Samantha's side profile clearly.
She was armed, holding two guns with practiced ease, her clothes stained with dirt and streaked with blood.
There was a smear of dried blood on her cheek, adding a dangerous edge to her usually composed demeanor.
