"You're hella light."

Y/N: "The sun's already setting."

My voice made Clem look up at the sky with me as we walked, a smile forming on her face. The sun was setting, and the colors were beginning to fade into dark purple streaks that blended with the common blue. It was something that I could never call ugly.

Clementine: "It's pretty."

Y/N: "Like you," I added, which she gave me a playful nudge in response.

Clementine: "Dork."

Though, the banter lasted a few minutes before we finally reached back to where Rebecca, Kenny, and Christa were. The pregnant woman was leaning against a thick stone pole, holding her baby bump in exhaustion— but mostly irritation.

Christa: "Rebecca, don't worry. Labors can be earlier than expected."

Kenny: "And nothing's wrong. Babies know how to be born."

After a long sigh, Rebecca looked up from her position, her eyes widening in relief when she noticed us.

Rebecca: "Y/n! Clementine!"

Kenny: "What'd you find?"

Clementine: "The building around back has an observation deck."

Christa: "Is it safe for a kid to be born?"

Y/N: "Very." I nodded, raising a hand to emphasize the height. "The deck's a two-story, so it'll be too high for walkers to reach up."

Kenny: "Sounds good. As soon as the other three come back, we'll go."

Clem and I shared a look before turning to Rebecca. The woman was visibly distressed and her eyes slowly drooped to match her expression.

I felt horrible. She was just an ordinary woman standing, having a baby coming, and in the middle of an apocalypse without a hospital. Yet, there was nothing else we could do besides rob a bag of medicine and take shelter in some observation deck.

Fifteen minutes later...

My girlfriend and I were sitting side by side on the edge of the dry outdoor fountain, my legs mindlessly swinging back and forth as we waited for Mike, Bonnie, and Duck to come back.

Suddenly, my eyes gazed down when I felt a hand on my knee. Looking back up, I smiled at Clem. Though she wasn't looking at me, she was staring away with her other hand placed nonchalantly under on her chin.

But I knew it was just a facade.

Y/N: "What're you thinking?" I asked, slightly tilting my head to the side to get a better look at her.

Clementine: "I thought I'd try something new..." she surprisingly admitted.

Y/N: "New?" I repeated with a small laugh that seemed to have embarrassed her. "I don't mind."

With that being said, I also placed a hand on my girlfriend's knee just to show her how nonchalant we could be. I wasn't trying anything. It was just a long moment of peace, just the two of us, for now.

Duck: "Hey, lovers!" He called out, making the both of us groan in unison.

Reluctantly, we both pulled our hands away to avoid Duck's endless teasing as I turn towards him. Behind him were Mike and Bonnie, who were holding a gallon of water each.

Kenny: "Woah, nice find—"

A painful cry interrupted my uncle, forcing everyone to turn to the person. Christa began to shush Rebecca as she clutched her stomach even tighter than before, cursing more through her clenched teeth.
