Turbulent Magma

Chapter 1: My promotion

I was nervous. Maxie had just called me to his office, saying he needed to have a word with me. He had never called me to his office before. Unsure of what was happening, I went there, and knocked, hoping for the best. He then told me to come in and have a seat. He greeted me with a smile. "Do you know why I called you here, Sarah?" 

I was shocked. He usually never called me by name, unless I was in serious trouble, and since he had smiled at me when I entered, I wasn't sure what he was up to. "N-no..." I said, very shakily. 

Maxie smiled. "Well, you've been working hard, and you've put forth your best effort, and it's been showing. Multiple Grunts have come up to me saying how great your work is. Courtney even told me the same a few times herself." 

What? Courtney?! But she absolutely hated me! Maxie went on to explain all the great things I've done. 

"So that's why I've reached my decision. I am promoting you to Admin." I could hardly believe what he said. 

I was getting a promotion? I was so excited that I couldn't talk for a minute or two. Then I finally spoke up. "Sir Maxie, do... Do you really mean that?" 

He closed his eyes and nodded. "Yes, Sarah. I'm being serious. I'm promoting you. Your new uniform is already in your new quarters, located right next to Tabitha's, which is four doors to the right of Courtney's, when facing the door."

I was so happy, I rushed to my old quarters, which I was sharing with a few other Grunts, and gathered what was mine. One of the Grunts (All female) looked at me. "Hey Sarah, what's going on?" 

I smiled. "I have been promoted to Admin" As soon as I said that, all the Grunts in my room congratulated me. 

I sorta blushed. "H-hey. You know I'm not one or attention..." One of the Grunts, the one with blond hair, and I'm pretty sure her name is Allison, hugged me, as we are practically sisters, but not by blood. "I'm so happy for you, Sarah!" 

I hugged her back. "Yeah. But we probably won't see each other that much anymore..." I sighed.

Allison smiled. "C'mon! Look at the bright side, you're promoted!" 

I nodded. "Yeah. Well, I'm going to go to my new quarters now." She smiled, and I did just that.
