Chapter 18: Meeting in Secret

(Maxie's POV)

It was 7AM, and I was walking around the Team Magma Base, a cup of coffee in my hand. I was a bit down, as I had found out that Courtney had a miscarriage.

(A/N: I HAD THAT PLANNED ALL ALONG!)

However, being with Winona for much of yesterday, as well as the night before, it made me realize something. I still love Winona. But I can't be with her, as I'm with Courtney, and I wasn't sure if Winona also still loved me.

I then went back to my office, and picked up the phone on my desk, and called Winona.

It rang a few times, and I thought she might still be sleeping, however she then picked up the phone. "Hello?"

I briefly hesitated, and sighed. "Winona, it's me. Yesterday made me realize something that I had forgotten after so many years."

"Maxie? Wh-what is it?"

I closed my eyes as I spoke. "Winona, yesterday made me realize that you still sparked a fire in my heart. And I have a question to ask you."

I could hear Winona sniff a bit. "Yes? What is it?"

I hesitated as I wiped a tear from my eye. "Winona, do... Do you want to go out with me today? I-I mean it doesn't need to be a date-date, but you know what I mean."

"Yeah. Where do you want to meet?"

"Fortree City in a half hour."

"Alright. See you then." She then hung up.

I then wrote a quick note, and went over to  Sarah's quarters. I slightly opened the door, and set the note on her dresser by the door.

I sighed and then went to Fortree.

Once I arrived, I went into the Pokemon Center, and I got a lot of odd looks, and I sat down at a table, and waited.

About five minutes later, she came in, and over to me, and I stood up, and lightly kissed her cheek. "Morning."

She slightly blushed, but returned the kiss. "Morning Maxie. So what do you want to do first?"

I smiled. "Well, I was thinking we could grab some breakfast. I haven't eaten yet today, and I am hungry."

Winona smiled. "Sounds like a plan. Why don't we go to The Treetop Cafe?"

I nodded. "Yeah. That sounds good."

We went to the Cafe, and I got an Oran Berry-Filled Doughnut, and Winona got some toast with Sitrus Berry Jam.

After breakfast, we went to the museum in Mossdeep, as we both had a great interest in things that were related to space. I was having a great time, and I could tell Winona was too. By the time we were done at Mossdeep, it was already 9AM.

Winona then checked her phone, and looked at me. "Well, I have a challenger, and I need to go back to the Gym. Do you want to come with me? Or are you going to head back to the Team Magma Base?"

I sighed. "I'll go back with you."

With a smile, she sent out her Altaria, and I sent out my Charizard. We both mounted our Pokemon, and went back to the Fortree City Gym.

After Winona had battled and lost to her challenger, we went back into the living area of the gym. Winona got together two cups of hot cocoa, and gave one to me. I took a sip, but as soon as I did, I became lightheaded and dizzy. I quickly set down my hot cocoa, and put my head between my legs, but the dizziness and lightheadedness didn't fade, and Winona rushed to my side.

"M-Maxie! Are you ok?!"

I shook my head, or at least I think I did, as everything was spinning. I then fell out of the chair, and into Winona's arms as everything went black, and the dizziness and lightheadedness went away, along with everything else.
