***"Tch. Who said I was worried? I was just... looking out for you, alright? It's not like... like I care or anything," InuYasha grumbled, his voice a mix of defensiveness and embarrassment.
Kagome's smile turned smug. She couldn't help but enjoy seeing InuYasha flustered and trying to hide his concern.
"Sure, Inuyasha. You just did it out of a sense of duty, right? Not because you care about me even a little bit," Kagome taunted, her tone dripping with faux innocence.
Inuyasha bristled at her teasing, his embarrassment growing. He shot her a scowl, his eyes narrowing in irritation.
"Shut up. You're reading too much into things! I was just doing my job, okay? That's all. Just protecting a weak and defenseless human girl," InuYasha retorted, trying to downplay his concern with a sharp tone.
Kagome stifled a laugh, her smirk widening at his defensive response. She leaned back against the tree, enjoying the moment.
"Weak and defenseless, huh? Is that how you see me now?" Kagome countered, her tone mock offended.* "I'll have you know I can handle myself pretty well, thank you very much. I don't need your constant protection." Kagome said.
"Hmph. Could've fooled me," InuYasha grumbled, crossing his arms and averting his gaze.
"From what I saw, you were down for the count after that fight. So much for handling yourself. You can barely even sit up without looking shaky." InuYasha says.
Kagome let out a huff of frustration, her pride stung by his words. She crossed her arms defiantly, matching his pose.
"Hey, I was tired and worn out. Anyone would be if they went through a fight like that. I was just... a little drained, that's all." Kagome said.
Kagome tried to defend herself, knowing he was right but refusing to fully admit it.
Inuyasha rolled his eyes, clearly not buying her excuse.
"Tch. Just a little drained, huh? You nearly passed out from exhaustion. If I hadn't been there, who knows what could have happened. You have to learn how to pace yourself and know your limits, Kagome." InuYasha spoke.
Kagome scowled, her pride bristling at his reproachful tone. She knew he had a point, but she hated being treated like some fragile creature that needed constant protection.
"I know my limits, Inuyasha. I just... pushed myself a little further this time. It won't happen again," Kagome protested, her voice laced with irritation.
"I don't need you to lecture me on how to handle myself. I'm not some damsel in distress." Kagome said.
Inuyasha's expression darkened, his eyes narrowing at her defiant retort.
"Oh really? Then why did I end up having to save your ass when you bite off more than you can chew, huh? Maybe you should listen to me for once instead of being so damn stubborn." InuYasha says.
Kagome's face flushed with anger as Inuyasha continued his relentless criticisms. She clenched her fists, her patience reaching its limit.
"You know what? I've had enough of this. I don't need your constant nagging and lecturing," Kagome snapped, her voice filled with frustration.
Without waiting for a response, Kagome abruptly stood up, dusted herself off, and started walking away, her steps determined.
Inuyasha's eyes widened with surprise at her sudden departure. He hadn't expected her to storms off like this.
