***"Don't ye worry. It's not disrespectful at all. In fact, I'm sure Kikyo would be happy to know her clothes are being put to good use." Kaede spoke.
Kagome considered Kaede's words, her hesitation slowly fading away. It was true that she needed some fresh clothes, and refusing Kaede's offer might seem disrespectful. With a small nod, she finally relented.
"Alright... Thank you. I guess I'll borrow her clothes, then." Kagome smiled.
Kaede smiled, glad that Kagome had accepted the offer.
"Excellent. Come, I'll fetch the clothes for you." Kaede spoke.
Kaede turned and handed her a bundle of folded white and red clothing. They were the simple, traditional priestess garments that Kikyo used to wear.
"Here you are," Kaede said, handing the clothing to Kagome.
Kagome took the bundle of clothing from Kaede, handling the fabric gently as if it were something fragile.
Kagome felt a strange mixture of emotions as she held Kikyo's clothes in her hands — a sense of veneration, but also a tinge of unease. It was bizarre to think that she was going to wear something that once belonged to Kikyo.
"Thank you, Kaede," Kagome said softly, her voice barely above a whisper.
Kaede patted Kagome's arm in a grandmotherly manner.
"Go right ahead, child. The river's quite peaceful this time of day. It'll do ye good to unwind a bit." Kaede said.
Kagome smiled at Kaede's affection, appreciating the care and concern. She clutched the bundle of Kikyo's clothes tightly, a mixture of anticipation and a touch of nervousness coursing through her. As she turned away from the small hut, she took a deep breath, steeling herself for the task ahead.
Kagome made her way down to the river, the sound of flowing water filling her ears. She found a quiet spot, away from any prying eyes, and set down the bundle of clothes on a nearby rock. She began to carefully undress, her school uniform falling to the ground in a heap.
Kagome took a moment to stand there, now only in her undergarments, letting the gentle breeze caress her skin. It felt strangely freeing, being so exposed in the open air. Carefully, she folded her school uniform and placed it neatly beside Kikyo's clothes.
With a small shiver, Kagome stepped into the water, the cool liquid enveloping her skin. She closed her eyes, feeling the tension and stress of the journey slowly melt away. The river's touch was soothing and calming, like a gentle embrace.
Kagome let out a small gasp as she sank further into the water, the coldness of it taking her by surprise. It was colder than she expected, sending a shiver racing through her body. But as she adjusted to the temperature, she found a sense of comfort in it. The coolness of the water felt refreshing, like a shock of vitality flowing through her veins.
Kaede, observing from a distance, saw Kagome sink further into the river.
"Having a good time, child?" Kaede called out.
Kagome looked over at Kaede, feeling a bit guilty for leaving her with the chore of washing her uniforms. She waved, trying to mask it with a smile.
"Yes, I am," She replied. "Just a bit cold," Kagome continued.
Kaede chuckled, seeing through Kagome's attempt to hide her discomfort. She resumed washing Kagome's school uniform, dunking the fabric into the river water and scrubbing it against a smooth stone.
