"I-I'm Kagome," Kagome introduced herself, her hand reaching up nervously to brush a strand of hair behind her ear.

Kaede studied Kagome for a moment, taking in her kind and timid demeanor. She smiled gently, her expression kind.

"Kagome. What a lovely name. How do you know Inuyasha?" Kaede asks.

Kagome's cheeks reddened slightly at Kaede's question. She looked at Inuyasha, then back at Kaede, her voice soft but steady.

"I...I just met Inuyasha a short while ago. We're kind of traveling together—" Kagome said.

Inuyasha grumbled, his irritation returning as Kagome spoke. He cut her off, his voice gruff as he corrected her statement.

"No, we're not traveling together. We just sort of stumbled into each other. I was doing my own thing when she showed up unannounced." InuYasha says.

Kagome shot Inuyasha a glare, her annoyance clear at his quick dismissal of her. She crossed her arms, her eyes narrowing slightly.

"I didn't just 'show up unannounced," Inuyasha. You ran into me, remember?" Kagome said.

Inuyasha smirked smugly as his irritation gave way to amused teasing.

"No, not really. And I remember you trying to grab my ears when I was trapped in that tree. That's not just showing up unannounced, that's plain stupid." InuYasha said.

Kagome's face flushed with embarrassment as Inuyasha brought up that incident. She huffed, her hands on her hips as she retorted defensively.

"I was just trying to help you get unstuck! I didn't realize touching your ears would be such a big deal." Kagome said.

Inuyasha chuckled, his smugness growing.

"Yeah, right. You were just looking for an excuse to touch my ears. I bet you thought it would be fun to mess with a trapped half-demon." InuYasha says.

Kagome's cheeks reddened further, her embarrassment mixing with irritation. She scowled at him, her voice laced with annoyance.

"Oh, please. I was not looking for an excuse to touch your ears." Kagome said.

Inuyasha raised an eyebrow, his smug expression growing as he continued to tease her.

"Oh, really? Then why did you look so damn eager to touch them?" InuYasha said.

Kagome's irritation grew, her cheeks growing even redder as Inuyasha continued to tease her. She retorted defensively, her voice slightly raised.

"I didn't look eager! Your ears were just the first thing I noticed, that's all!" Kagome spoke.

Kaede watched the banter between Inuyasha and Kagome with a mix of amusement and concern. She interrupted their little argument, clearing her throat to regain their attention.

"Enough, you two. Let's focus on what's important. Why are you both here in the village?" Kaede says.

Inuyasha turned his attention to Kaede, his expression growing serious. He briefly explained their reason for being in the village.
